I know that this may be an unpopular view but I feel that I have to be honest as someone who has researched in this area for 20 y. There are currently no fit for purpose evidenced based guidelines to tailor womens training or performance to different phases of the menstrual cycle

Same study (bmj.com/content/366/bmj.l489…) two different headlines today......no wonder people are confused about diet and health. Also undermines trust in nutritional science research.

Where is the logic of blaming people who are obese for 'not taking personal responsibility' and then #fatshaming them when they dress to go to the gym? In addition to being counter-productive, it is just plain nasty behaviour. telegraph.co.uk/women/life/o…

By all means go and work for one of the many great development organisations in Africa, but don’t use black kids as props for your Insta. I wrote about white saviours and why @DavidLammy is right for @VICEUK vice.com/en_uk/article/vbwp9…

Eating 30 g/d of #fibre is achievable! Change food prep methods (e.g. don't peel potatoes), switch to whole grain cereals (wholegrain bread, brown pasta), replace sugary snacks with fruits, vegetables, nuts & seeds 🍎🍐🥕🥦🥜🍞 7-d example meal plan here onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

185 cohort studies, 135 million person years and 58 clinical trials later! Fibre reduces mortality (RR 0·85), heart disease, diabetes, cancer... Greatest effect between 25-29 g/d. We do not eat enough #fibre and we should! 🍎🍐🥕🥦🥜🍞 Full paper here👉 thelancet.com/journals/lance…

Food fructose studies and blood sugar control. Neat (and timely) meta-analysis of the evidence. And for non-RDs or nutritionists out there, a reminder that when it comes to diet and health, it's #abitmorecomplicated than demonising single nutrients/foods .bmj.com/content/bmj/363/bmj.… – at South East, England

What is the impact of a #ketogenic #LCHF diet in #cancer? Systematic review by @sorrelburden identifies very low quality evidence - case reports, retrospective studies & uncontrolled trials only. No #RCTs. Variable 'impact' on nutrition and tumour. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

A lot of you have been asking who my musician inspirations are and I have to say, the great @bobmarley has been a huge influence to me. I recently arranged one of his tracks for my album - I hope you enjoy it!
