One of the world’s largest private equity firms just issued a report concluding: “Despite massive investments and widespread hype around artificial intelligence, the technology has delivered zero financial payoff to corporate America outside of tech.”

Still don’t know what this is used for besides scamming people
We believe voice is the most natural way to interact with intelligence, so we created Dessa, the most authentic full-duplex speech model ever built. Talking with it feels like talking with a person…full of emotion, nuance, pauses, and a natural cadence. block.xyz/dessa

I now see the danger in “humanizing” AI with human names and human qualities. Millions of people do not have the cognitive sophistication to handle this and millions will have deep AI psychosis in five years. I believe AI should be presented in a sterile UI as much as possible

Lawmakers will need to start holding tech executives legally liable everytime someone uses a tool like this to scam people, push misinformation, and impersonate someone.

It continues to be incredibly shocking to me that so many people can hear "there's a real chance your family will be killed within the decade if we don't stop AI companies" and proceed to do nothing about it.

If you're a business or artist with intellectual property, watch the clock. 7 days until Meta is 3wks from claiming right to scrape your site to develop its AI. Your consent? Apparently unnecessary. All it takes is use of Meta's services. Yes, they delayed but you shouldn’t.

Yes. note that there's also a third option, which is "if it's too dangerous for everyone to have it, it's too dangerous to train in the first place."
Everyone should be looking for data points to advance the longstanding debate in AI policy between “diffuse dual-use capabilities rapidly so the good guys can defend themselves” and “restrict capabilities proliferation to only carefully vetted good guys.” We are putting the former position to the test as we speak. No motivated reasoning to reach your preferred conclusion; just pay attention and update as appropriate in whatever direction seems true. This is much too important for low-fidelity tribal polarization.

OpenAI are shitting themselves. Their grift is up. They know it. And they know we know it too. They're just trying to get out with as much cash as they can, while stiffing ordinary people with all the inevitable losses coming down the line.

You cannot collect a paycheck from the AI companies and pretend you are an independent good guy warning the public. You cannot be employed and submissive to the company you are trying to reign in. @deanwball should not have accepted the job at OpenAI. The public is right to be skeptical of industry insiders who claim to be on the side of safety and moderation. Of course your incentives are completely fucked up!
We tried to warn the world and far too often, to be frank, we were yelled at for doing so. “Regulatory capture,” “marketing hype,” “doomer anxiety,” “fear-mongering about open source,” “why don’t you talk about the benefits?”

Here's another reason I believe 50%+ of social media content will by AI-generated by the end of 2027. You've definitely seen these explainer accounts appear out of nowhere and generate enormous engagement. Turns out they are made using Higgsfield. Some of the biggest new gen entertainment companies will likely begin as an AI-content instagram/tiktok account.

Our decision to rush ahead making a dangerous, dual-use product without adequate basic security measures in place was unavoidable and preordained by destiny. We tried to warn you about our own recklessness and disregard for safety or the law.
Replying to @hinapansari

if you follow this world closely this explanation makes enough sense. but it's gonna be a tough sell and piss off a lot of normal people to hear some version of 'we tried to warn you but also we just kept building it too...what did you expect us to do...stop?'

AI is truly a groundbreaking innovation. Here's what it's giving us - Ruining the internet and digital security - Making ppl dumber and less happy - Taking away jobs - Making arts worse - Needing data centers covering the Earth to provide us the above Can't imagine going back

As a former audio engineer/mixer, I can confirm that the sound quality is horrendous. Ethically, this track is stealing from this guy's "favorite" artists, there is nothing interesting or creative about it. There's no humanity, no integrity, no human "truths" expressed.
AI generated music is 1000x better than real music. Today I canceled Spotify and SiriusXM because I finally tested Suno. What sold me was the first prompt I gave it: “My favorite artists are A Day to Remember, Bring Me The Horizon, Spiritbox, Bad Omens, and Sleep Token. Analyze all their hits and generate a song I’m likely to love based on those artists.” It one shots an absolute banger in 10 seconds. I'll link the song in the next tweet for anyone curious. Why would I ever go back to Spotify/SiriusXM when I can generate music perfectly tailored to my taste on command, for free? Not affiliated with Suno in any way btw, it was just one of those moments where I was so impressed with AI’s capability I had to say something about it.
