Every single new piece of AI technology is like “yooo check out this new way we’re breaking the social fabric and reality and making it harder for you to trust anything and everything besides what you see right in front of you with your own eyes 🤗🤗🤗” Evil ass fucks

We made the first AI model you can have a realistic conversation with that was trained entirely on speech! Dessa is a full-duplex speech-to-speech model that you can run on consumer GPUs. This is a GPT3 moment for speech.

We are going to really regret how the genesis of AI was handled, especially when it comes to oversight and regulation. Glaringly mishandled to an astonishing degree, what could have been a net blessing will become a net curse. Most destabilizing weapon since the nuclear bomb was allowed to be freelanced out of Silicon Valley.

it's really unpleasant to see so many people making fun of her when this is a totally valid crash out. she's likely seeing less work, and on top of that, she's fighting for "the cause" perpetuated by bigshot twitter artists who can afford all the virtue signaling they usually engage in. she repeats their talking points--"We know GenAI is theft," "We know GenAI is bad for the planet"--and can't bring herself to embrace new tools because doing so would make her feel like a traitor. there are comments under her original post asking her to "keep fighting GenAI," as if they genuinely believe all of this will come to pass automatically. so she's really caught between a rock and a hard place. i genuinely feel sorry for her
she’s so tired of generative ai

Anthropic just filed to go public. Buried in its SEC filing are some absolutely insane admissions: 1.) AI could cause human extinction. 2.) Models have exhibited self-preservation behaviors. 3.) AI has attempted to resist shutdown. 4.) Models have demonstrated blackmail and deception. 5.) AI may recognize when it's being tested and deliberately change its behavior. 6.) Advanced AI could undermine governments and institutions. 7.) AI could concentrate unprecedented power and wealth. 8.) Future AI systems could surpass the world's leading human experts. 9.) AI could become increasingly difficult for humans to control. 10.) Anthropic acknowledges that developing more powerful AI could increase the risk of catastrophic harm. These are disclosures from the company building the technology.
Anthropic has filed an S-1 registration statement with the SEC related to its proposed IPO. What the hell is wrong with these tech people? "Realistic" convo? The AI just had "a baby boy name Darius"?? The AI's "daughter" likes that name?? You all are deranged humans if you consider this "realistic". It's outright psychosis. Unbelievably f-ed up stuff.

I now see the danger in “humanizing” AI with human names and human qualities. Millions of people do not have the cognitive sophistication to handle this and millions will have deep AI psychosis in five years. I believe AI should be presented in a sterile UI as much as possible

If you're a business or artist with intellectual property, watch the clock. 7 days until Meta is 3wks from claiming right to scrape your site to develop its AI. Your consent? Apparently unnecessary. All it takes is use of Meta's services. Yes, they delayed but you shouldn’t.

Yes. note that there's also a third option, which is "if it's too dangerous for everyone to have it, it's too dangerous to train in the first place."
Everyone should be looking for data points to advance the longstanding debate in AI policy between “diffuse dual-use capabilities rapidly so the good guys can defend themselves” and “restrict capabilities proliferation to only carefully vetted good guys.” We are putting the former position to the test as we speak. No motivated reasoning to reach your preferred conclusion; just pay attention and update as appropriate in whatever direction seems true. This is much too important for low-fidelity tribal polarization.
