Not only can agents use known techniques, but of course they can reuse techniques that they learned on the spot.
Countless times while building my arsenal, an agent reused a technique found and implemented during a previous research session.
Anyone has a digital copy of The File Formats Handbook by Günter Born?
I have it physically, but it seems unavailable in a digital format.

The Fortunate Fall by Cameron Reed (1996) is a cyberpunk style book that does not explicitly call it "ransomware" by name, but very clearly describes a virus that "leaves a series of ransom demands".

The final post of my decompilation project is out.
83% of the functions are byte exact. We're hitting diminishing returns. The game runs flawlessly, so we're calling it done here.
For obvious reasons, no code will be shared.

Just released PoCs for the 6 LibreOffice bugs we found (@b0n0b0__ ). Including an .odb/.odt/.jar triple-polyglot for the RCE and my personal favorite, an LFI using GStreamer that leaks via RGB pixel values🙃

Fun fact:
Barnaby Jack once decompiled and cracked IDA with itself and uploaded a cracked version of it into a webserver of a coworker.
After it got indexed HexRays found it, and banned our whole company from using it
We even got mentioned in the EULA
I wrote the FlareOn13.doc file of the Flare-On 2026 challenge, so

Already had to improve 2 files parsers because of niche file-format usage (hi @angealbertini :)

False information. The guy very awkwardly tried to pull some infos from me yesterday by DM. Two-faced dishonest drama hunter looking for views. Not worthy of your time nor subscriptions.
Is pixel art reverse-engineering a documented addiction ?
Such as the urge to reverse and extract all the palette-cycling/animated art made by @akio_1963, @Mawkyman or @pixelhenk ?
Asking for a friend…
In other unrelated news, is there a “widespread” and modern image format that supports palette cycling, scanline or midline palette change or other display tricks, such as multi-image flickering ?

This is the neatest tool I've seen in the last 6 months.
I've tried a few: they either have a good user interface or a strong security/trust model.

Amazing work by @trailofbits
My experience of retrogaming preservation nowadays:
Handling all revisions of a game or engine, full code analysis, reimplementation of every algorithm, lossless codecs “reversal”, emulators instrumentation, complete hardware exploration….
Any Amiga fan out there ?
I’m looking for an older and rare version of a 1989 game - or the earliest Whdload version of it, that I can’t find (only mentions).

Everyone's trying to make CPUs faster.
I’m trying to make them worse.
New project: CPU deoptimization.
