Maybe at the moment we should all (me included) take a break from any discussion of Cambridge's policies, and reflect on the tragic human costs -- and remember with compassion the person who paid a dreadful price.
Thank you Brittany Ferries 🙏
Brittany Ferries will cease live animal exports to France from next month, a decision that has raised concern with the Irish Farmers Association

Where can you get an old fashioned small sandwich - the current lot are huge with tons of filling. I would need to sit in a bath to eat one!

Hi Sophie - I took the LUAS twice last week and on both occasions a young person offered me a seat. And on the metro in Paris a few weeks ago the same thing happened. I am not particularly old or decrepit! I was surprised but it give me hope 🙏
Thank god for polite, well brought up teenagers. Two girleens approached me to ask whether they were getting the right train, and I was more than happy to point them in the right direction. It felt good after the horrible scene I witnessed in Sandycove DART station less than half an hour earlier.
I like being that sturdy adult that young people see as safe and reliable, someone they can ask for help when they need it.
I wish the nice youths were more visible and not those who just want to cause trouble. 😔

If only sterilisation programmes could be used everywhere- stray dog problems would be eradicated- possibly in a decade. 💖💖💖
The Netherlands has become the first country in the world to successfully eliminate stray dogs, ensuring that every dog has a home.
This remarkable achievement stems from a combination of strict animal welfare laws, large-scale spaying and neutering programs, and a strong culture of responsible pet ownership. The Dutch government has long supported widespread sterilization initiatives and enforces tough penalties for animal abuse and abandonment.
While an estimated 200 million stray dogs exist worldwide, the Netherlands stands out as a global leader. In Dutch cities, it is common to see dogs riding in bicycle baskets, relaxing under café tables, and even joining their owners on public transport, a reflection of how deeply integrated pets are into everyday life.
The country now serves as an inspiring model for animal welfare, demonstrating how coordinated policy, cultural awareness, and compassion can effectively solve a challenge that continues to affect many other nations.
Shocking
When are the Irish government going to take this animal abuse seriously. @FineGael @fiannafailparty 😡😡😡
