Tuesday morning we found an abandoned backpack (w/clothes and toiletries) on the street outside our house (Meadowlark/Lynnwood area). No ID. Any #yeg folks with best practices to find it's owner?
Got some very questionable "newspapers" in the mailbox today, and gotta wonder - where do they get the funding for this? What printer is taking the business?
I've seen those questions, and while some are Things I'd Expect You To Know (voting Qs, for instance), some are just plain ol Jeopardy style history trivia that is IMO pretty useless to have on a test. (Be like quizzing on the inventor of disc brakes on your driver test.)
How on earth can there be a report on "big chains dominate the grocery business" and not mention that we let Sobey's buy Safeway?
Canada's grocery business is controlled by large players and needs government assistance to encourage new entrants to bring down prices, a report from Canada's Competition Bureau says. cbc.ca/news/business/competi…
Steam says I've played 9.5 hours of Yakuza 3. I think it means I've played maybe an hour and watched 8 hours of cut scenes...
So either you have to give them a coupon first that they can "redeem" for items, or else Barrie has just instituted "papers please" for ice cream trucks.
Barrie is moving to ban residents from giving money, food or water to homeless people on city property, an unprecedented move that has sparked criticism for being inhumane as cities across the country struggle with a proliferation of encampments. trib.al/1ObpWLZ

Something I'd love an explanation for: if you're investigating a professional complaint, why does resigning = acquittal? Yeah, you can't fire the guy anymore, but shouldn't you finish the process so you have a record?
Whenever I hear police and politicos complaining about leniency, I'm reminded of stories like this one, where the cops find the guy with 87 warrants(!) purely by fluke.

I wonder if it's too soon to start training a language prediction model on myself, so that many years from now when I'm old and feeble, we can just switch over to Emulated Me.
All the props to a company that sees the end nearing and chooses to exit gracefully rather than slamming the doors on the employees and disappearing into the night.
We are devastated to announce we are ending Blaseball and saying goodbye to some incredible team members.

Wonder if Bill realizes that under this law, the teacher will be legally required to call him William?

It never fails to shock me how we're years into remote work and companies haven't handed out basic webcam+mic combos to people whose job is to do presentations.
A #yegdt thought - the kid has a Thing to Do downtown tonight, so we have a couple hours to kill. Everyone's talking up "ooh, gotta bring folks back to DT"... so what is there to do?
Let's tick off the easy ones - Art Gallery? Closes at 5. Museum? Closes at 4. Pop across the river to Muttart? Closes at 5. City Center Mall? Closes at 6.
So, question to #yeg - what's there to do downtown on a Friday night between 7-9pm? (Where you need to pick up the kid after, so "go get sloshed" isn't an option.)
