After Elon Musk posted on X saying he had throttled Ukraine’s use of Starlink after it was used for offensive attacks, House Armed Services Committee member Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO) says the billionaire’s ability to wield that power is “beyond disturbing to me.” “It cannot and should not be the case that a tech oligarch, a private citizen, who has that much control over our national security, who is unaccountable, who is unelected, with zero transparency, is making life and death decisions on the battlefield in systems that our service members and our partners and allies rely upon,” he adds.

Novavax News
Sweden has procured Novavax (distributed by Sanofi) as its sole COVID-19 vaccine for the 2027/2028 season, effectively moving away from mRNA platforms. Sweden is the first country in the world to make this exclusive shift. Reasoning for the Change: The Swedish government favored Nuvaxovid because it relies on traditional, well-established protein technology (similar to long-standing vaccines for Hepatitis B and HPV) and offers easier storage and handling requirements compared to mRNA vaccines. Policy Adjustments for Younger Groups: Sweden previously advised against using Nuvaxovid for people under 30 due to historical concerns over myocarditis and pericarditis. However, representatives from the Public Health Agency (Folkhälsomyndigheten) stated that those specific heart inflammation concerns are no longer viewed the same way. The agency has lifted the age restriction well ahead of the Autumn 2027 rollout so the vaccine can be used broadly across eligible groups There are strong hints regarding which countries might follow. Japan is the most likely candidate to heavily favor @Novavax or heavily reduce its reliance on mRNA. Under the commercial leadership of Takeda, Nuvaxovid successfully climbed to become the second-most used COVID-19 vaccine in the country during the 2025–2026 season. Given the strong public infrastructure already established by Takeda for protein-based distribution, Japan remains a prime market for continuous non-mRNA adoption. Germany and Canada: Public health agencies in these regions are actively framing @Novavax not just as a "niche backup" for people who refuse mRNA, but as a mainstream, peer-level choice for standard autumn booster campaigns. Historically, the Nordic cluster (Denmark, Norway, and Finland) acts in close coordination with Sweden regarding vaccine logistics, safety assessments, and procurement. When Sweden paused Moderna for youth in 2021, the neighboring Nordic nations instituted nearly identical policies within days. Because Sweden’s Public Health Agency cited simpler storage requirements and a highly stable, well-understood traditional technology as major drivers, its neighbors are under close scrutiny to see if they will share the same procurement preferences. lakemedelsvarlden.se/myndigh… $NVAX $mrna $SNY

If you have v fair skin and a family history of skin cancer, you really have to be careful in the sun. Likewise people like me that are skin cancer cautious really have to make sure they get enough vitamin D. It’s a balance, not a bad idea to get your vitamin D checked ✔️

I know a number of pwME who also have fatty liver, and many of us have impaired fasting glycemia from insulin resistant, ao this might be relevant.
People with fatty liver took 144 mg cranberry capsules or placebo for 6 months. Fasting insulin was almost halved. HOMA-IR, a measure of insulin resistance, halved from 2.8 to 1.4 in the cranberry group. "The results of the present study showed that cranberry supplementation had a positive effect on some lipid profiles, insulin resistance, and hepatic steatosis in patients with NAFLD." Fruits are the best carbs for insulin resistance because of their polyphenol, mineral, vitamin, and fiber content. Cranberry powder extract improved gut microbiota, reducing endotoxin, in rodents fed a high-fat, high-sugar diet. xitter.cf/lowmegatron/status/211…

$2.2 million is an outrageous sum of money for one public servant to earn. What's more, 17 people in the Future Fund are now on more than a million - only one woman among them. Australians who can barely afford groceries right now, will share my outrage. tinyurl.com/mak89juh

Me: "I'll need to leave at 9." Client: "Of course. We'll be back before then." They weren't. At 9:15, my phone rang. Client: "We're about twenty minutes away." Me: "Okay, but I really have to leave at 9:30." Client: "We're trying." At 9:42, there was still no sign of them. I called again. Client: "We're almost there." Me: "You said that twenty minutes ago." Client: "Please, just stay with the dogs." I am a Gen Z dog sitter, and I take my schedule seriously. My husband had landed at the airport after a twelve hour flight, and I had promised him I would be the one waiting at the arrivals gate. I texted him. "Running late. Not my fault. Sorry." He replied right away. "Don't worry. I'll sit and watch the planes." At 10:30, the owners finally walked through the front door. The wife looked annoyed. Client: "You could have waited a little longer." Me: "I waited more than an hour past the time we agreed." Client: "We were delayed." Me: "I understand." Client: "Then why are you making this such a big deal?" Me: "Because I told you before I accepted the job that I couldn't stay past 9." Her husband pulled out his wallet. Husband: "How much?" Me: "The agreed amount. $80." Client: "You're charging us extra?" Me: "No. I'm not charging you for the extra time." I set the spare key on the counter. Client: "You're not going to sit for us again, are you?" Me: "No." Client: "Because we were late once?" Me: "Because you knew I couldn't stay late and expected me to stay anyway." I gave the dogs one last scratch behind the ears and walked out. I reached the airport at 11:20. My husband was sitting on a bench near the arrivals gate with his suitcase beside him, reading a paperback. He looked up and smiled like he had not been waiting for two hours. "Rough night?" "You have no idea." He took my hand and carried my bag to the car. The next morning, the client texted me. "Can you recommend another sitter?" I typed a reply. "No. I don't know anyone who can stay past midnight." I looked at it for a few seconds. Then I deleted it before sending. Instead, I wrote, "I'm sorry, I don't have anyone to recommend." I put my phone down, and my husband slid a plate of pancakes across the kitchen table. Some people think boundaries are rude. But the people who respect your time are the ones who never need a second reminder.

I very much want to be wrong, but I think this outbreak is going to get much, much worse. Attacks on healthcare workers, active conflict zone, porous borders, sub-optimal surveillance. A very bad combination.
