Another takeaway after three years of building a company is that the returns to just "being a good person", and not acting transactionally, are higher than I expected. There are so many transactional, boring, and at times immoral people in the tech industry that if you act with sustained warmth, authenticity, humor, and integrity, great gifts will be laid before you. White pill.

If zero-trust is the standard for humans, it most definitely should be the standard for agents.

Another reason why proof of personhood via on-device biometrics will be critical moving forward.
Introducing Tapkit Tapkit is a Mac app that lets your agents use your iPhone. Tell it to do anything and it can use your phone to do it. We've been iterating on Tapkit over the last few months with our earliest users and finally feel like it's ready for general use. Today it is easy to use, supports any agent, and can even use multiple iPhones at the same time. There are so many great things that we can do with this new primitive, but I didn't want to wait any longer to share it with you. Try it now: tapkit.ai

.@benthompson says consumer AI has a marketing problem because the average consumer doesn't actually want to be more productive. "Tech companies are like, 'Let us book your flight for you!' I’ve had a personal assistant for 10 years. He does not come within an inch of booking my flights for me. That is crazy talk." "I understand which ones are gonna be delayed. I know which seat I want to be on. So the fact that this is continually a demo is hilarious to me." “Number two: people love shopping. They don’t want to be productive. They want to be entertained. One of the biggest forms of entertainment is shopping.” "Also, there’s so much information on a product page. Companies have spent so much energy focusing on that. You look at apparel as a category. They’re going to tell you what size the model is wearing, and you want to know that, and you want to look at the different styles." "The idea of having a personal agent that’s going and getting some of the information and bringing it back to you, and then you’re like, 'Well, what about this other thing? Tell me about this thing.'" "And you have your eager tech company executive say, “Oh, I have an assistant that can do it for you!" "And it’s like, no. Not only do I want to do it, I want to complain about it. I’m enjoying myself complaining right now, okay? Would you just let me be and live my life?"

NEW: The US military was prepared to board a Chinese vessel in the Middle East earlier this spring -- during war with Iran -- after an intel report concluded it was transporting components of a nuclear weapons program. But just before the planned operation, officials discovered the report had been generated w/ help of AI & chatbot used by the analyst inaccurately identified what the ship was carrying, sources tell @KatieBoLillis & me.

Very obviously anything cool/scarce is going to quickly prohibit agents.
agents trying to book things with finite supply is going to be hilariously chaotic. we’re about to introduce software level race conditions into real life. two thousand agents refreshing the same dinner reservation, concert ticket, apartment, flight upgrade, etc. distributed systems problems except now the lock is a table for two at 8pm in the west village.

If you live in a small town and weird people in California say they're building "AI" and it *might* kill everyone and the government is freaking out and you start seeing news stories about people getting laid off because of AI and now the AI people come and say they're going to build a 400,000 square foot AI data center to power the AI revolution in your little town and it's going to triple tax revenue and change everything but don't worry the AI is basically a free money machine, the AI will just sit in a beige building on some previously pristine farm land and hum, some things are going to have to change around here but at least we'll live next to an AI data center, I get the knee jerk reaction against that
