Ok, but does it prevent hosts from requiring a $495 “cleaning fee” for that to be done. I used to love Airbnb but the hosts who wanted to use the low bar of the hotel industry as a water line to dive under are clearly the problem.
JUST IN: Airbnb announces new rules banning hosts from requiring guests to wash dishes, do laundry, strip beds, or take out garbage before checkout.

The worst part is that they sold out to EA who will now ensure nobody can revive these once-great IPs. Such is the story of many other great studios who made this poor decision; DICE, Origin, Maxis, and Westwood. We could be playing great games from their franchises.

They had to cut customer access. Yikes! “UPDATE: We have high-confidence the threat actor has also abused these ConnectWise Cloud Management apps: -Exchange Online (b78f6a77-d4e5-46fb-87e5-d1648bd02519) -MS Teams (24205314-2b89-4e07-a2a4-579e898a5640) -SharePoint Online (b2b55f5b-7758-4719-8d8f-88ae172e6bdb)”

I’m 41 years old. I’ve often stated that “we haven’t had a president or administration I’ve liked or approved of in my adult life.” Millennials have objectively and mathematically had the worst government leaders, and older generations need to understand this context.

The #1 predictor of success I've seen is lived experience. The most successful founders in our VC portfolio are founders who've already lived the problem they're solving for 10+ years.

👋 Folks, Maester Cloud is now on the Microsoft and Azure Marketplaces 🎉 It’s billed on your Azure invoice, with no new vendor to onboard. It runs in your own subscription, tracks drift across your Maester runs, and alerts you when something changes. (Plus lots more coming!) Every subscription helps fund my time building Maester. Marketplace customers can also be featured on our supporters wall. Go to maester.cloud → pick Azure Marketplace

Change is coming, and you should turn this setting off in Microsoft Entra > ourcloudnetwork.com/microsof… Soon, Microsoft are giving us all a reason to need to buy Agent 365, by making Agent Identity Blueprints (which serve as the foundation of Agent properties and policies) able to be created by standard Microsoft 365 users. While we encourage users to self-service create their own Agents, Blueprints, which should be governed and controlled by those defining and managing your AI governance, should not be self-service created. #Entra #Microsoft #Agents

Removing flock cameras is a top public safety priority.
NBC just talked to five people who got pulled over, held at gunpoint, or detained after Flock cameras spit out false alerts. One electrician stopped at a Chick-fil-A in Lafayette, Indiana, and officers surrounded his work truck with guns drawn because a plate misread flagged it as stolen. Another person sat in jail for nearly two weeks over the same kind of error. These aren’t rare glitches. Flock’s system scans every car, matches against hot lists, and treats a probabilistic hit like certainty. Innocent drivers become high-risk stops with no probable cause. This is mass surveillance doing exactly what critics warned it would.

⚡ Microsoft Teams to Warn Users About Malicious Links Hidden in QR Codes Details: cybersecuritynews.com/teams-… Microsoft is extending Teams security to detect malicious links hidden inside QR codes and warn users after a message has been delivered. The update adds QR code checks to existing Microsoft Defender for Office 365 protections, giving users clearer warnings and security teams more data to investigate suspicious messages. The new protection checks Teams messages containing QR codes after delivery. Defender extracts the web addresses stored inside those codes and checks whether they point to malicious content. If a dangerous URL is found, Teams displays a warning on the affected message in both internal and external conversations. #cybersecuritynews

Controversial take: I love Ohio. I’ve been all over the country, and to many other parts of the world. Ohio is home and will be for the foreseeable future. We get all four seasons, have great highways access, low cost of living, plenty of high paying jobs, and a lot of liberty.

This is the most meaningful update I’ve seen to copilot. Many people use Claude because it can “do the thing” where Copilot could only tell you about it. I’ll likely maintain “the big three” subs indefinitely, but working natively in the M365 ecosystem is always preferred.
This Copilot update is bigger than it looks. Federated connectors are read-only. Copilot could find the data, but writing back meant setting up a custom agent, flow or another integration. Microsoft is adding create, update and delete through those connectors, where supported. Connect your system. Give Copilot the request. Approve the action. A whole category of “we need to build something for that” just got smaller. learn.microsoft.com/en-us/mi…

I’m exhausted too. You all went overboard with the madness. Just stop.

This kind of nonsense is exactly why I am building my own platforms instead of building dependencies on systems like GitHub and Cloudflare that are known for arbitrary terminating customer agreements without cause or rug pulling terms.
I'm not even writing this to diss Martin, I'm not going to beef with GitHub over social media like a goofy goober. It truthfully isn't a problem. I have everything backed up locally. But, the repository was called "Malware Source Code collection". The repo has been up for about 6 years (maybe 7 years?). The repo was one of the most starred projects on GitHub, it was some absurd number like 12,000 or something. I can't remember (it's deleted). Hence my profound confusion that the repo, which is cited by Universities, Cyber Threat Intelligence companies, and Cybersecurity companies, and has been persistent for 7 years, is banned arbitrarily. I'm not sure if I want to deal with creating a support ticket, I know it won't take long, but it seems silly to me to get banned, having to plead my case, when I could simply move the collection to own Git instance (which i will do). Also, if we're being totally honest, GitHub likely doesn't give a shit either way. The malware source code collection being there doesn't benefit them in any meaningful way. Pic unrelated

“Just submit a ticket.” Listen, there’s nothing any of us would rather do less than go to the support site, convince the ai chat bot that we actually need a ticket, write up that ticket, get an ai response that has nothing to do with it, to get transferred offshore after that.

I think blaming mortgage rates alone is a gross oversimplification of the current state. While 2-3% mortgages absolutely stimulated buying activity, they were also statistical outliers. We’ve had health markets with 7% mortgages before.
U.S. homebuyer demand is now weaker than during the 2008 housing crash. NAR's pending home sales index hit 71.2 in August, below any reading from 2008 to 2011. Contract signings are down roughly 45% from the 2020 peak and about 30% below pre-pandemic levels. Mortgage rates are the problem: signings peaked in 2021 when rates were near 3%.

The core problem is runaway inflation. Many Americans can barely afford food and gas. Saving for a downpayment is completely out of the question and the home values have skyrocketed to unattainable levels. grok.com/share/c2hhcmQtNA_16…
