1. Habib is not an archaeologist.
2. The archaeologists Habib despatched to court were inconsistent and some of them like his protege RC Thakran admitted in the court that a Hindu religious structure indeed resurfaced in the excavation.
3. Habib accused the VHP of smuggling the Vishnu Hari inscription to plant it into debris of the demolition. The allegation was NEVER raised by the Muslim side in the HC or the SC. Habib continued to hawk the idea only for benefit of the incestuous media.
4. Habib called the exposed structure a sultanate mosque without ever going to examine the trenches. He made assertions sitting in Aligarh. All along he held there was no structure beneath. If it was a sultanate mosque, who built it or how did it get Babur’s name? Habib has no clue.
4. Months back I have sent a complementary copy of my book to Shekhar Gupta. Read chapter Nine on Habib.
I ask and repeatedly why Habib or Thapar did not sit for cross-examinations in the court. Why they send historians who left the witness stand mauled and disrobed. The entire shenanigans is brought up in my book
Habib is no archaeologist but dabbled into it. He intentionally misinterpreted the archaeological data. Accused the VHP of planting evidence in the debris. He brought out a book to assess the HC verdict but made no new arguments. Yet had gall to accuse judges for ignoring the evidence in favour of what he called the temple theory.
Completely misled the nation but got away with no reputational cost.
The whole infamy of I. Habib with reference to the Ram Janmabhoomi is brought in one place in my book.
Listening or reading Romila Thapar is always a delight. In her lecture from the CPI(M) podium she launches attack on Hindutva historiography within three minutes of her speech.
My delight is to see how she is coping up the callous distortion she and her ilk spread in history with the help of establishment. The Habibs and the Thapars must live long to see their citadel collapsing.
