India has a lot to learn from Japan, particularly Tokyo:
Not just industrialisation, but also civic sense, public transport, and walkable cities.
Instead, we're learning from car-brained places with population densities a fraction of ours.

One more unfortunate tax that India imposes - having to prove your patriotism even when you have done more to advance the national interest than 99.9% of the country.
FWIW I hadn't seen any of those terrible tweets, and all right-thinking people would have ignored them.
I'm just glad to see Indian companies go global. They should be supported, and their CEOs should not have to spend their time dealing with this kind of muck. The Indian govt. does real security vetting in these sectors, and has access to data about company structures and fund movement that the public does not. Unless someone has proof to the contrary they should just keep quiet.

Sometimes feel Tamils hate Chennai more than people from other states. Ready to move to Bengaluru or Hyderabad but cry when the state invests in what is a $150 Billion Economy Zone...😒😒

Kerala has a higher GDP per capita than Gujarat without any metropolises or industries. It's pure consumption.
If you include remittances into the calculation (23%), then Kerala is the large Indian state with the highest PCI.
Electric cycles may be a solution to India's traffic crisis.
They need no fuel, occupy less space than scooters or cars, require less effort than cycles, and are the most energy efficient motor vehicles.
I write about my experience in owning an e-cycle:

Unheard villages which do not have disposable income to buy these tickets, will get a shiny HSR before the highly urban, tax generating South which can afford these tickets do. Warra Master stroke.
India's electricity comes mostly from coal, so why bother with EVs?
Here's a simple hack: Charge your EV around noon (10 am – 2 pm), when solar power's share is at its highest.
I cover this in detail on my blog; link below.

Because
Why is @narendramodi needed for inauguration of every single metro line in this country? Ridiculous.
Deng >>> Modi
While reading the biography of Deng Xiaoping, I frequently felt how lacking Modi was compared to Deng.
Modi cannot make economic reforms politically acceptable the way Deng did.
The only Indian PM who felt closest to Deng was Narasimha Rao.

Overhead metros, whose civil structure are literally precast & prefabricated in a factory should not take more than 3 years to construct and operationalise.
Both Kanpur & Nagpur metro were constructed in less than 28 months.
Longer delays is just bad planning & lazy politics.

How difficult is it to prioritise the Inner Ring Metro Line? Seems like suburbs will get metro earlier than core city area like Domlur and Koramangala. Worst planning by authorities. Even Red Line that connects core city areas hasn't started construction yet.
Bengaluru Metro's 215-km Phase 4 plan prioritises suburbs, core city takes a back seat

Why do people assume that high-rises = living in tiny pigeonholes? High-rises make more efficient use of available land, thus lowering the price of unit living space.
I'd argue that it's the Bombay influence that makes people assume that high-rises mean less living space.
₹2 lakh crore for bullet train project is crazy.
Compare this with nuclear plants. An 1.4 GW Indian nuclear plant costs only ₹25,000 crore.
So, ₹2 lakh crore gives you 8 nuclear plants (!!) with a total capacity of 11.2 GW.
India's current nuclear capacity is just 8.8 GW.
Good @indianexpress piece tracing how India’s bullet train took a long detour. It started as a pure Shinkansen import and is now a hybrid with Japanese tracks and civil design +European signalling via a European-Indian JV+ Made in India trains( BEML’s B28, at 250 kmph)
The costs have nearly doubled (realistically speak it is par for courase in most HSR projects outside PRC) to about ₹2 lakh crore. The first section is now due in Dec 2027, against an original 2022 deadline for the whole line.
The friction had causes on both sides. Japan wanted to export the entire system. India wanted flexibility, cost control and strong elements of indigenisation. Japan’s E5 trainset was phased out, and the E10 won’t be available before 2034. On India’s side, land acquisition was a challenge
Japanese experts continue to warn that mixing systems on one corridor carries safety risks India must address. That’s a fair concern.
But after watching global supply chains weaponised since 2017-18, it would be daft to expect India to give up a chance to build its own capability in a greenfield project. Japan may be a benign partner. Self-reliance in critical technology still isn’t negotiable.
The logic of sample size works differently when the goal is effectiveness and not absolute certainty
Say an app has 15 bad reviews highlighting the same bug. Chances are it's a genuine problem that needs fixing
You can't hide behind "bad sample size."
Same for risk capital.
