Nick Saban to @PatMcAfeeShow: "I talked to a college coach this week who has a bye week next week, and all he's doing is meeting with agents. It's the middle of the season! Guys are worried about how much playing time am I getting, what I'm going to do if I don't get enough playing time. I'm playing well, so how much money am I going to make next year there or someplace else?"
"The reason we're seeing a lot of these inconsistencies in performance is people are struggling to sustain their intensity week in and week out. Maybe it's people are more conditionally committed to their team because the circumstances we're putting these players in. ... If you can't sustain intensity, you can't sustain the level of performance you want to sustain, you can't play smart, you can't play with intelligence. It all starts with your mental energy, and that starts with your commitment to your team and to your development as a player."

Good teams with flawed resumes missing out isn't a bug. It's a feature of a properly-sized CFP that balances access & urgency.

This is a painfully embarrassing attempt by Greg to make himself look less foolish.
1. He argues that Drake's performance doesn't count because it came against the Raiders, who he says rank 25th in pass DVOA. Greg, where were the Raiders ranked in pass DVOA BEFORE Drake torched them for 400 yards and 5 TDs? You don't want to know. It would hurt your narrative a ton.
2. Greg says it "isn't fair to Stafford" to factor in rushing ability because Stafford is an "older pocket QB." So you strip away one of Drake's best traits just because the guy you're comparing him to doesn't have it? Hilarious. If you really want to make things fair, consider this: Stafford is throwing to two Hall of Fame talents in Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, with Sean McVay calling his plays. Drake's top pass catcher in Week 5 has never topped 724 yards in a season and dropped two balls on Sunday. Funny how fairness only matters when it helps your anti-Maye narrative.
3. Even after skewing the data and framing everything to fit your narrative, you still somehow make Drake look great. The best you can manage is to falsely suggest he's slightly underperforming two MVPs and likely Hall of Fame QBs. Nice, you really got Drake on that one!
Absolutely hilarious stuff from Greg.
Compared Maye, Stafford, and Allen as passers against the top and bottom DVOA pass defenses the last 2 seasons.
- Maye has done most of his damage against the bottom half;
- Allen is slightly better against the bottom half;
- Stafford is basically the same player, if not better against the top.

Alabama’s line of scrimmage deserves a lot of the praise for their success this season.
Kalen DeBoer breaks down how OL coach Adrian Klemm has made an impact.
what took so long
There is growing anger around the NFL over the current state of officiating.
After speaking with multiple coaches and executives around the league:
• “What happened Sunday was an embarrassment for football.”
• “Some of these refs are making it about themselves.”
• “It’s bullshit that there’s no accountability.”
• “We are playing with dangerous waters with the way officiating is going right now.”
The anger is not just related to the Trey McBride and Eric Wilson incidents that resulted in referee suspensions.
The frustration is only amplified by the fact that coaches and executives know they can’t publicly say much without risking league backlash and potential fines.
I criticized Mike Vrabel so forcefully this summer, after the Dianna Russini revelations surfaced, because I knew he’d already lost the locker room — and we’re watching that play out in real time. I wanted him fired because I love the Patriots. The players in that locker room don’t respect him, and they can’t.
CJ Gardner-Johnson on why #Bills lost:
"Practice squad player made a helluva play... They didn't do %$&# better than us. We gotta play better."

Efton Chism III, the Patriots WR who made the late TD catch, is on New England's active 53-man roster and game-day active roster (with prior 2026 game appearances), not a practice squad or elevated player.
