I never cease to be amazed by the blinkers regularly put on by Western media. They are so quick to judge other countries, so blind to their own! This @BBC analysis says, "Western nations have condemned alleged extraterritorial assassinations carried out by countries such as Russia or Iran or Saudi Arabia. They will not want India to join that list." Hello? The two foremost practitioners of extra-territorial assassinations in the last 25 years have been Israel and the US! The only reason why epic failures and mismanagement like the Rahman concert happens in India, because of the absolute confidence that the organizers have that nothing will happen to them legally.
They won't have to answer any questions. They won't get punished. And they won't be held liable. And they will not pay a single dime.
Because our system is so screwed up.
First they will declare they will refund affected parties. But then They will say, conditions apply. And then they will apply those conditions. They will ask you to psychologically prove that you we mentally affected. Then they will ask you to walk on one leg to a particular GPS Co ordinate at the concert venue, to collect your money.
So most of us won't bother to collect it. Because we have our life.
And if someone does take an effort to file a case they will appoint a battery of lawyers to keep postponing the case for 20 years after which court will ask them to pay a fine of 20k. Which they will appeal.
So no luck there.
While all this happens, they will tweet a nice looking apology. Share a meme. And then plan the next concert which most of us will pay and go anyway.
Because we are suckers.
The artists know that. The concert guys know is as well.
The only people who don't know. Is us.
Till we convey the message with our wallet and action, this will keep happening over and over again.
