I've been cooking on this post for a bit, but with the cyber security events of this week I had to ship it:
Long-live static credentials must die. We never want to rotate API keys again.
Turns out only 8% of cloud and SaaS vendors support secure alternative. This is our call to action to change this AND our commitment to do our part:
- We are requiring vendors on our marketplace to support OIDC
- We shipped @shadcn components to make it easier to ship OIDC configuration
- We are expanding OIDC support on our own platform
The last generation got the web from HTTP to HTTPS. It is on us to move past API keys.

Crazy 🤣 but the most of them actually requires ZERO actions really, provided they originally are using the current LTS-like versions of PHP (8.5 | 8.4 | 8.3 | 8.2 etc.)... their hosting providers does the heavy lifting.
Just a matter of updating their distro src 😌

Over 1 million players in 3 days!
I asked @Shalom_HeyEliy how it happened for Lagos Life, what broke, and if she’s selling for $100,000.
How Lagos Life Beat ChatGPT to 1 Million Users (in 3 Days)
Lagos Life went from 0 to 1 million users in just 3 days. I sat down with Shalom, the creator behind the game, to talk about how it was built, the traffic, the outages, the business, and what's next.
Shout-out to @Shalom_HeyEliy... She done this one 💪🏾
Is Open Source no longer exciting!?
AI is squeezing the contributor from both sides: contributors generate more PRs, while maintainers automate more work.
Are we accidentally optimizing the human out of open source? 🤔

Back in 2018, open source changed my life.
It gave me opportunities, a community, and a chance to build something that people around the world could use.
But there was a problem: it wasn't sustainable for me to do open source full-time.
And I still wish I could.
I know I'm not the only one.
Across Africa, there are developers and maintainers building libraries, frameworks, tools, and infrastructure that deserve more recognition and financial support.
So I built something for us.
Introducing flossafrica.com.
A platform making it easier for open-source creators and maintainers in Africa to get discovered, receive sponsorships, and sustain the work they do.
You get visibility.
Your projects get a place to be discovered.
And patrons can support your work without jumping through hoops.
Powered by @bachs_hq Connect, maintainers receive 100% of the money patrons sponsor, accessible same day for Naira sponsorships.
No complicated funding process. Just people supporting the software that makes the internet, businesses, and our communities work.
I believe Africa needs both:
→ Builders creating profitable products. Find them on pairlore.com.
→ Builders creating the open-source foundations and critical software that others depend on.
Both deserve a place in Africa's technology story.
@flossafrica is for the second group.
If you're an African open-source maintainer, I'd love to see what you're building, go add your projects and setup your account to receive funds.
And if you believe open source deserves better support on the continent, go fund a maintainer on FLOSSAfrica or at the very least, help me spread the word.
Open source changed my life. I want to help make it sustainable for the next generation of African builders.

Recurring invoices on Hagfish is such a quality of life improvement for creators.
Some invoices need to be sent in a particular time window periodically.
You can tell Hagfish to generate from a template invoice and then it will tell you when it has done that and you can review and send(or even schedule to send it in the future)
I know @babblebey is enjoying this!
The best creators and freelancers invoice their clients via Hagfish.

Been quiet on here 😅
I've been busy:
✨ Shipped semantic-release.org
📦 Published my first npm package
⚙️ Working on @semanticrelease/core
🧑🧑🧒🧒 Built Fircle, an open-source private social network for families.
Always feels good to be building. More sharing soon. 🚀
Submitted a talk on OIDC to #DevfestLagos by @gdglagos, for this post I asked a fellow maintainer if I could share a screenshot from our discussion.
His response?
"Cool, but I'd rather not attract supply chain attackers" 😅
Honestly, that's the best justification for the talk.
