A different, positive spin s that the Wolves have a successful case study with an in-season arthroscopic knee surgery to a star player... Karl-Anthony Towns had one done on March 12, 2024, and was *incredible* on their playoff run that year. Rehab kept him in phenomenal shape and he hit the ground running in a major way coming back from that.

Clearly, Ant thought he could play through the knee issue. Given that it became a problem so quickly, this is obviously a move to try and have him ready for January and beyond this season. Not sure what to make of him playing through it (and playing incredibly well) on the B2B.

No surprise here. Was pretty clear in real time that those were blown calls. As said on @lockedontwolves, the glass half-full take is that the Wolves easily could have won despite 17 TOs, terrible FT shooting and transition defense, and Ant's open miss from 3...and the below.
L2M Report from last night says there 2 missed calls by the officials, both went against Minnesota... 1) Ant WAS fouled by James Harden with :06.2 left with score tied 113-113. "Harden initiates contact with Edwards' arm, which affects his shot attempt." Ant should've been awarded 2 free throws. 2) LaMelo DID NOT foul Donovan Mitchell with :14.3 left in OT & CLE up by 1. "Mitchell dribbles the ball off Ball's foot, which causes Mitchell to lose control of the ball. The ensuing contact that occurs after the ball is deflected is deemed incidental." Wolves should've had possession with :14.3 left in OT. official.nba.com/l2m/L2MRepo…

The Wolves are bringing back Enrique Freeman on a 2-way contract, per source. They had one open 2-way, looked at several options. Freeman is well-liked and has familiarity with the system. He will begin in Iowa.

Had fun talking Wolves with Danny! Game tonight should be very interesting, with or without Ant...

Awesome to see the Wolves win in a very different way against the Magic than they did in Miami. Things that were similar between the two wins: -Defense very good (but not great) -Offense played fast and crashed the glass - Non-Ant/Ball players hit their 3s - Ayo + TJ were great

Finally getting caught up on some national preseason preview pods, and the hand-wringing over the Wolves' defense is pretty unbelievable. Rudy Gobert has only been part of a defense outside the top 10 *one time* since he became a starter in 2015-16. That's once in 11 seasons.

Rudy Gobert's team defensive finishes since he became a full-time starter in 2015-16: UTA: 7th, 3rd, 2nd, 1st, 13th, 1st, 9th MIN: 8th, 1st, 6th, 6th

Trying to so hard to not engage... (at least he admits he's not an expert?)
NBA experts…. explain why Rudy Gobert is the 4 time defensive player of the year and simultaneously a massive liability when he covers anyone with any offensive skills.

The most encouraging thing about the offense so far is how unselfish they've been, outside of Ant's dominant 3Q stretch. They've also played fast. Perimeter defense has been spotty (being kind) but the activity in the passing lanes/deflections has been great.

This is good.
Wolves with Ant & LaMelo together in 1st half... 9 MIN | 70% FG (14/20) | 60% 3PT (6/10) | 100% FT (2/2) ...and most importantly, MIN +14 (36-22).

Have been saying for a while on the pod that the Wolves seemed likely to waive Freeman. They'll monitor if anyone interesting comes available during roster cuts to add on a two-way. Thought Reeves was impressive when he had chances early in preseason and would add some shooting.
NEWS: @Timberwolves Waive Enrique Freeman, KJ Martin, Norchad Omier, Antonio Reeves and Drew Timme Full Release: nba.com/timberwolves/news/ti…

Talked about this about a week ago on LO Wolves. Wouldn't be surprising if DiVincenzo is the next guy to sign an extension.
"This organization doesn't just see basketball players for basketball players. They see the human side of things. ... I am somebody they want here." - Donte DiVincenzo on his experience with trade talks this year and the organization telling him he wasn't going to be traded

There's the other shoe. Williams needs to shoot it like he did in college to end up with chance at a rotation spot and Konchar is a fine end-of-bench depth piece. Obviously, this was done out of necessity. Wouldn't expect either of them to be in the opening night rotation.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are trading Josh Green and cash to the Utah Jazz for Cody Williams and John Konchar, sources tell ESPN.
