looks like someone is going to be too occupied to enforce a mask ban

Please stop saying we should wear masks "when appropriate." COVID surges throughout the year, and other viruses, pollution, wildfire smoke etc. are also significant health issues. It is ALWAYS appropriate to wear a mask.

Banning masks has nothing to do with preventing crime. Japan has one of the lowest crime rates in the world, and everyone there wears a mask regularly.

Please stop believing we don’t owe each other anything. We owe each other so much! We owe each other love, equity, understanding, community, compassion, and much more. Don’t let this toxic hyper individualism cut you off from humanity. We’re all connected. We all need each other.

one of the greatest lessons i’ve learned in organizing is to not blame people for being surprised when they find out how bad the world is, even when it hits them late in life. not people who feign ignorance, but people who are truly surprised

When I was in college, we protested investment in South African apartheid. It seemed unrealistic, but eventually it worked and now Mandela is on stamps. Solidarity with students and faculty and anyone speaking up against investing in apartheid and genocide!

This year I taught an entirely virtual open-access graduate course. Materials were free, speakers were compensated, and students were in attendance from all over the WORLD. On-line learning and community is not only possible but often PREFERABLE. No need to "return to normal."

Today was a beautiful reminder of how humans can come together for science. Imagine if we did the same to fight viruses and climate change.

Today @WCKitchen lost several of our sisters and brothers in an IDF air strike in Gaza. I am heartbroken and grieving for their families and friends and our whole WCK family. These are people…angels…I served alongside in Ukraine, Gaza, Turkey, Morocco, Bahamas, Indonesia. They are not faceless…they are not nameless. The Israeli government needs to stop this indiscriminate killing. It needs to stop restricting humanitarian aid, stop killing civilians and aid workers, and stop using food as a weapon. No more innocent lives lost. Peace starts with our shared humanity. It needs to start now.
We are aware of reports that members of the World Central Kitchen team have been killed in an IDF attack while working to support our humanitarian food delivery efforts in Gaza. This is a tragedy. Humanitarian aid workers and civilians should NEVER be a target. EVER.

Four years ago, when @DrTedros declared COVID-19 a public health emergency, he said: "We cannot say this loudly enough, or clearly enough, or often enough: all countries can still change the course of this pandemic." These words still apply today. who.int/director-general/spe…

They locked their account, I honestly think that's great. One should always feel comfortable taking reasonable precautions to protect themselves.
Grinding my teeth into dust reading this. Everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. Stop making your disabled loved ones feel like they are the problem.

To everyone who read THAT ⁦@NPR⁩ article, read THIS. It a clear-eyed and compassionate response to an atrocious take. Disabled people's exclusion from indoor spaces is a civil rights violation, not an annoyance thegauntlet.news/p/disabled-…
