Truth isn't good or bad. It just is. Truth doesn't change based on the rank of the recipient. If you can't state the evidence that would change your mind, you don't care about truth. Love your neighbor; no caveats. Goodness breeds goodness. Travel is fatal to bigotry & prejudice.

Who is surprised that Salzburg, being a civilized and proper Prince Archbishop city, brings a strong door game? Unsurprising. Our Excursion guests next Oct...dang

Those are excellent field sketches. High compliments.
Had a really nice time hiking with my son in Colorado last weekend. Made a couple of drawings that I liked

Pop quiz: these will get which, more or less available as the demographic collapse picks up speed? Nobody's ready. Won't happen in NYC for another century. But it will in Europe and the Midwest soon.
€299k in France buys you a whole building with a turret - 3 apartments + a 70m² (753 sqft) shop downstairs - 343m² (3,692 sqft) in total, renovated, some furniture included - garage and basement for 4 cars Price: €299k ($334k), down from €395k Location: Saint-Cyprien, Dordogne. Medieval market town in the Périgord Noir, ~2h by train to Bordeaux, 52km to Bergerac airport Interiors are a bit Airbnb-ish, but you're getting the entire building on the main street + shop for the price of a flat in most cities. Crazy!

Gabor has a piano. And many rare reasonably priced books.
We even found a great used bookstore run by a fellow named Gabor. I may have purchased books.

Don't know how to beat this first day in Salzburg. Staying at the Seminary. Found a first English edition of The Betrothed from 1952. Mirabelle Gardens and dunkel weizen with dinner. Next October's Excursion is going to be great. Already booked and filled.

For those looking for an interesting tl;Dr account, I recommend Ambassador Fernandez. He finds stuff i wouldn't otherwise read and QTs a sentence or two. Sometimes I'm not interested. Not my bag. Most of the time his teaser makes me click.
"In place of a strong Leviathan, France has a Jacobin state that, after years of centralisation, is obese, indebted and weak, incapable of pacifying the atomised society it helped to create."

I wish I hadn't founded and built the Automous People Hunting and Killing Drone Company thinks founder while awaiting death in woods by Autonomous People Hunting and Killing Drone that he marketed for search & rescue. Same guy that supports taming Face Eating Leopards.
"Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI." Yeah, that's all we'll use the "follow people through the dense forest while they run away" drone for.

Maybe I'm the outlier but I think guys who expect the world to be static are wrong. Who does he propose fix housing prices & at what level? Interests change over time. Some places increase in value. Others decrease. Moving is an option. Classic Illusion of Explanatory Depth.
I'm in my 40s. I'm a lawyer. My wife is a lawyer. We both work full time. We cannot afford the house my parents purchased on a single electrician's income in their 30s. We cannot afford the house my immigrant grandparents purchased on a single MTA bus driver's salary in their 30s. They had SIX CHILDREN. For 30 years, politicians in Washington & their oligarch allies convinced regular people that this was just about avocado toast and fancy coffee. In reality, this is end-stage capitalism. Everyone is stuck in place. It's impossible to buy a home. It's too costly to move. We work too much to have passion projects. We don't have enough savings to start our own businesses. We can't afford to go without healthcare to do it. Thanks for writing this article @troy_closson. Would be very happy to discuss further. nytimes.com/2026/10/25/nyreg…

In 2014, former Pope Benedict issued a letter in which he dealt with Adam, original sin, and aliens. What he said will really make certain folks--who are very dogmatic in their positions--really unhappy. youtube.com/watch?v=GVk9C4B5…

This is exactly why we're signed up for Oct 27! We've been to Venice. And it's great. But one of my favorite things to do in a random US or foreign city I'm visiting is to go to a grocery store and observe

We have finally created the Hunter Robot that Murders People from the classic sci fi novel "Don't Create the Hunter Robot That Murders People"
Purdue University's IDEAS Lab built an autonomous drone that tracks runners through dense forests completely without GPS or cloud networks. By running 3D LiDAR mapping and obstacle-avoidance AI entirely on-chip, it can weave under tree canopies and predict target movement through blind spots in real time. Massive implications for next-gen search & rescue and edge AI.

Venice is, much like Dubrovnik, a non-functioning city in that it serves only to present what once was to tourists. You cannot even be a visitor here as nesrly nobody lives here apart from those managing services. It's Disneyland. No grocery stores or schools. Restaurants, gift shops and a few pharmacies. Few Italians. Almost none in kitchens. Fewer and fewer as faces of restaurants. Don't get me wrong, it is still beautiful. But it is not the place we like to bring guests. We prefer to be visitors, not tourists. That requires a place you can stay and visit and become friends with local people. It's become difficult to do that in more and more places. We head to Austria tomorrow to run our Excursion itinerary for Oct 2027 in real places. Peace to you all.
