Andy Burnham has told the Sunday Times that he is open to readopting free movement as part of a closer relationship with the EU. This would be an utter affront to all those - including the millions of working-class voters in Labour's traditional heartlands - who voted for Brexit. Its the terminology. Your state pension will not be taxed. But then forget to mention that anything above the threshold simply gets passed over to Private pension with a minus tax code. Only those whose sole income is the state pension won’t pay tax. So pensioners who worked and sacrificed during their life for their private pensions, literally end up paying for their own state pension.
