This 👎🏼… and totally predictable much like the damage caused by implementing vat on private schools.. many who share facilities with local communities, often in more isolated areas, who have few.
Reeves’s stamp duty raid backfires as Treasury LOSES £500m in receipts. Also, HMRC WRITES OFF £13bn in tax as businesses collapse under Labour. Labour increased capital gains tax and the money coming into the Treasury FELL. How incompetent are Labour, every measure they take to try and grab more of our money fails and they end up with less money. Financially illiterate. Policies which are punitive only ending up with the Treasury being worse off. Labour never learn. Get Labour out. telegraph.co.uk/money/tax/ne…

Indeed Bernie. Bodies lying all over the place here in Europe. No, wait. The 32,000 is not an actual body count. It’s the result of modelling by Imperial College on the basis of several dubious assumptions. People did die of heat this summer. They usually do when it gets v hot e.g 1976, 2003. The exact number is not clear. But even if 32,000 was a real figure we know for sure many, many more will die of cold this winter. They always do.
Climate change killed 32,000+ people in Europe this summer. Trump believes this crisis is a "hoax." Republicans in Congress are following their "Great Leader.” NO to Trump’s fossil fuel agenda. YES to creating millions of jobs by moving our energy system away from fossil fuels.

💰I can’t wait to claim MY reparations, Dawn… I’m going to be RICH! A quick look at my mixed DNA ancestry suggests I’m owed money from quite a few places including: 🇮🇹 Italy (Roman conquest of Britain, Gaul and parts of Germania) 🇩🇪 Germany (Anglo-Saxon invasions of Britain and invasions of France) 🇩🇰 Denmark (Viking invasions of Britain and France, and centuries of rule over Norway) 🇳🇴 Norway (Viking invasions of Britain and France) 🇸🇪 Sweden (invasion of Norway and military campaigns in Germany) 🇫🇷 France (Norman conquest of England and Napoleonic conquests of German territories) 🇳🇱 Netherlands (Dutch invasion of England and colonisation of Sri Lanka) 🇪🇸 Spain (1595 raid on Cornwall and military campaigns in France) 🇮🇪 Ireland (early medieval raids on Britain) 🇵🇹 Portugal (colonisation of Sri Lanka) 🇬🇧 United Kingdom (colonisation of Sri Lanka and historical invasions of France) 🇮🇳 India (Chola invasions of Sri Lanka) 🇨🇳 China (Ming invasion of Sri Lanka in 1411) 🇯🇵 Japan (1942 air raids on Ceylon) 🇹🇷 Turkey (Ottoman conquest of Hungary) 🇲🇳 Mongolia (Mongol invasion of Hungary) 🇦🇹 Austria (Habsburg rule over Hungary and wars against France) 🇷🇺 Russia (invasions of Sweden, Soviet occupation of Hungary and invasion of Germany) 🇷🇴 Romania (1919 occupation of Budapest) 🇭🇷 Croatia (1848 invasion of Hungary) 🇵🇱 Poland (wars against Sweden and military campaigns in German territories) 🇱🇹 Lithuania (Polish-Lithuanian wars against Sweden) 🇨🇿 Czechia (Hussite invasions of German territories) 🇲🇦 Morocco (Barbary slave raids) 🇩🇿 Algeria (Barbary slave trade and raids on Britain) 🇹🇳 Tunisia (Barbary corsairs and enslavement of Europeans) 🇱🇾 Libya (Tripolitanian corsairs and the Barbary slave trade) Which raises an obvious question… Where exactly is the historical cut-off for inherited responsibility? And more importantly, who do I send my first invoice to, Dawn?
A stolen watch doesn’t become yours just because you pass it down to your children. So why apply a different rule to stolen labour, wealth and land? Reparations are about inherited benefit and inherited loss. Time doesn’t erase injustice.

How… if it’s illegal are we doing this?
Polygamy is illegal in the UK. Yet our welfare system pays out benefits to multiple spouses. Conservatives @RicHolden helped introduce legislation to stop this today.

An amendment to the sporting events bill was defeated by Labour voting against it. @louie_french (and I as I suggested it in The Lords) Conservative shadow sports minister wanted int. events brought to this country to insist the female category is protected as the ioc does, & the uk Supreme Court ruling stipulates .. sadly Labour doesn’t seem to care if our girls get fair sport

Bridget I’m going to speak to you woman to woman. You do NOT give one jot about the safety of women and children. If you did you would have met with the women from Piddington. If you did you would have met with Rhiannon Whytes mum. You’d be concerned about the sky rocketing rape and sexual assaults happening in every part of the Country. You’d have stepped in to help residents who have very valid concerns about the rape and sexual assaults that’s happened in a refugee centre in Yorkshire. Yet you’ve remained silent and that silence speaks volumes. Women don’t trust you, women know you’re a show pony and a mouthpiece for Labour. So do us a favour and bugger off. Don’t pretend to care about women and girls when the evidence shows us you don’t.

He wasn't "killed". This wasnt an unfortunate event like a road traffic accident. He was MURDERED. Repeatedly stabbed to death in a church by Somalian, Ali Harbi Ali, an Islamic State sympathiser, who should not have been in the country.
Five years ago today, Sir David Amess was killed while serving the people of Southend West. I knew David as a kind, tireless colleague who dedicated his life to public service. His death was a terrible reminder of the risks faced by those in public life, and of our responsibility to ensure that everyone can serve their communities without fear. Today, we remember David’s extraordinary commitment to the people he represented, and the lasting loss felt by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Our politicians are increasingly little more than a bunch of pontificating pixies. They should be running the country without fuss or show instead of wasting time with this performative nonsense.

If you tell the electorate in say Makersfield you’ll not revisit Brexit (because they voted for it) then do exactly that… where does that leave you? Especially when you’re a PM the country did NOT vote for. I’m sick to death of political lies. From all sides. Anyone else?

In 1947, when the partition plan was approved, Jews constituted approx one-third of the population of Mandatory Palestine west of the Jordan River. The UN partition plan proposed allocating approx 56% of the territory to a Jewish state and 43% to an Arab state (with Jerusalem and its surroundings under int’l admin). But, 60% of the Jewish allocation was Negev desert, compared with around quarter of the Arab allocation being desert or semi-desert. Remove the desert and the breakdown in 1947 is: 33% of the population were Jewish and they were allocated 42% of the land. In addition, the Jews were always clear that Arabs would be welcome to live in Israel if they accepted its existence (which is why 20% of the population today is Arab). Not so the Palestinians. Not quite the 90% Owen is citing.
Israel was carved out of a land which was 90% Arab Christian and Muslim in the space of three decades. It was founded on the murderous mass expulsion of that indigenous population. Can you please give me an example of another state where something comparable happened? Can’t wait to hear, Mark!

Absolutely spot on from @afneil. This really is as good as it gets for Andy Burnham, as things are about to get much more painful for the British people. Under Labour, we already have higher inflation, borrowing, debt, unemployment, energy bills and taxes. The country can’t take much more of this. Labour’s incompetence and economic mismanagement have made everything worse. They’re not fit to govern.

The lack of any real appetite to understand what went so very wrong during lockdown continues to astonish me. I suppose a lot of people making the decision to start and run that process would not come out of any real investigation positively.
