SCOUTING CHRISTOS TZOLIS
After his debut, here's my massive deep dive on Arsenal's new left-winger: his physical profile, dribbling, movement, passing, crossing, shooting, temperament, and how his game will translate. Link in replies.

Too many finishing practices are shooting practices, every shot hit hard at the general area of the goal, ‘Make the GK make a save’ ‘hit the target’ are common shouts
‘Aim small miss small’, top strikers aim for a small target, Ian Wright aiming for 4 squares in the net

Sitting down with @tomocurr for a conversation about Jude Bellingham has turned into a 7,000-word transcript about verticality and how measuring repeated signature moves could be the next great Archetype concept (even if it's unlikely to be a new idea). scoutedftbl.com/decrypting-t…

I have known Ken Friar for more than 40yrs, I the history of modern football (post war) I would suggest that he is up there with one of the greatest football administrators in the game. Certainly for The Arsenal, he is one of the non player off field personel who you could describe as a legend. Following in the footsteps of the great Bob Wall. Unlike Bob Wall, Mr Friar would never release a book. Some of us begged and bugged him for years, and he would always say there would be too much to say, and you could say too much! Alas some of the great histories and stories of a period have gone with his passing.....
— Enzo offside for winner, unanimously ruled error by KMI
— Bruno G denied pen (+ Maatsen second yellow), unanimously ruled error by KMI
— Phantom pen against Konsa, unanimously ruled error by KMI
— Grav sent off for two soft yellows, 0:0 becomes 3:0
A lot so early in the season
My approved notes for Arteta the next time Merino is an unused sub:
"I made a mistake by putting someone of the stature of Pelé or Maradona on to warm up and then not putting him in the game. If it were today I would not do it."
Been trying to riff on...
"I made a mistake by putting someone of the stature of Pelé or Maradona on to warm up and then not putting him in the game. If it were today I would not do it."
...and it's impossible. Nothing beats the real thing!
It's not a worldie but this is exactly what makes somebody like Kane so special: not skimping on technique in a scramble.

I'm losing my mind at the little "ayo where the fuck is everyone" gesture he makes before ending multiple careers

My body of irrefutable evidence goes to a different school, you wouldn't know her.
Not proud, but I once got creative and registered a team of 20-year-olds in a U10s tournament. Other coaches kept saying "you can't use them" and "they have beards" and "I think that's Myles Lewis-Skelly." But whatever happened behind the scenes, the game is won on the pitch.
My "not involved in brazen and systematic financial doping" t-shirt has people asking a lot of questions already answered by my shirt.
Thinking even of this summer, and the Elliot Anderson fee's impact on every single deal to follow. It's hard to fathom how much this has altered everything.
Paris FC signed him for €7.5m.
5 starts, 5 G+A.
The gameplan backed the players to play with composure and through the press, the personnel had the technical security to do it, but they didn't execute. Some early loose touches got contagious, and they weren't on the same page in terms of rotations/showing against the press.
Very good routine tbh.
