i hope the pace of AI fills ppl with more wonder than surprise.
i find it hard to agree with @harari_yuval on many things, but his recent analogy stayed with me.
cows know humans exist, but cannot comprehend the economic systems and financial engineering that determine their lives. AI may soon advance beyond human comprehension in much the same way.
i think we should be building governing institutions not to safeguard against AI, but with a vision to serve as a liaison between AI and humanity.
maybe AI eventually takes care of our needs while pursuing goals beyond our understanding.

canada has problems, but the US is an outlier, not the baseline.
having US next door is a massive advantage and disadvantage. like roughly 1 in 4 STEM grads from waterloo, ut & ubc move to the US. plenty of reasons we already know of.
it is not that we are “lacking ambition”, some of that ambition has a US address now.
i also find the canada vs US scoreboard unhealthy. canada helps fund the education, the US recruits the talent. we both benefit from this connection, and are not two separate teams.
we can definitely ask why people leave and what would make them stay. but i’m long on this relationship. making it work better for both countries will do more for canada than constantly asking why we aren’t america.
Spent the last 2 weeks in Canada, and it's immediately clear why America will keep its competitive advantage forever.
Don't get me wrong, I love Canada! It's beautiful out here, and the people themselves are also lovely.
But! There is a serious lack of ambition, and an enormous amount of averseness to risk in a way that is not really fixable imo
this would be funny if we hadn’t spent years seeing what drones can do in ukraine.
“highest security” and it made it to his cell window? we’re lucky this delivery was nuggets. what is Canada doing to stop the next one?

Strong link between frequent daytime napping and an elevated risk of developing dementia, according to new research from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The study was about unintended napping, and in fact whether the naps were intended or unintended was a key factor examined. In addition, the researchers are not claiming causation. publichealth.jhu.edu/2026/frequent-…
. @davidgraeber wrote an entire book called bullshit jobs.
i’d bet 30% of jobs at firms like accenture qualify, and half the workday is spent on pointless activities.
but sure, a $29/month claude limit is the real sign of AI doom.
New: Accenture has told employees it will only fund $29 per month of Claude use. Meaning that employees who often spend as much as $1,000 a month are now scrambling to find ways to keep access to the tool. A sign of the continuing crack down of AI 404media.co/accenture-tells-…

.@flexport CEO Ryan Petersen on the Charlie Munger advice he passes on to AI founders: "The key to success is dumb competition."
"One of my favorite things that Charlie told me at one of these dinners at his house was when I told him about Flexport, he was like, 'Oh, you have a great business because the key to success is dumb competition.'"
"I always say that to people who are building AI companies. What a nightmare. Your competitors are literally AI geniuses."
"You should find a way to apply AI in some other domain so you're not competing with the smartest people on Earth."
"It's like trying to be a boxer. You might beat all the people in your local gym, but at some point you're gonna run into somebody who's gonna kick your ass."

We're bringing a full interface into your iMessage thread, and we're upgrading the Caddy app to match. 📲
> an email comes in, Caddy texts you with a one-tap choice. You tap, and Caddy writes the reply
> connect Find My, and Caddy can suggest restaurants nearby.
> Connect Apple Health and your calendar, and Caddy plans your day around both
We want Caddy to cover you on all fronts. If Caddy could handle one more thing for you, what would it be? 👀
been watching them pivot and now build this. it maps your attack surface, tries the sketchy paths, and ships the fixes.
