HUGE congratulations to @TroyJackson207!
A logger from Allagash with a big heart and a clear-eyed vision just beat a five-term incumbent.
Maine families are getting a true fighter in the Senate.

Thank you for this powerful statement. Ramaswamy is truly monstrous. It is a blessing that he will be nowhere near a seat of power.
I have been holding my tongue about something that happened during the Ohio gubernatorial race. I refused to speak while the election was underway because I did not want my words mistaken for an attempt to influence anyone’s vote.
But now that the election is over, I have something to say.
For nearly twenty years, my ministry has taken me among the homeless, the abused, the exploited, and the forgotten. I have sat with victims of sexual violence and witnessed the lifelong wounds of childhood trauma.
What Vivek Ramaswamy’s campaign did to Amy Acton was among the most morally repulsive things I have witnessed in American politics.
They took a woman whose stepfather was indicted for raping her when she was twelve years old and featured her mother, from whom she had been estranged for nearly fifty years, in a political advertisement attacking her credibility.
The advertisement challenged Acton’s account of her childhood without mentioning the sexual abuse allegations or the circumstances of that estrangement. When people expressed their horror, the campaign defended it.
Imagine examining another person’s childhood suffering and fractured family relationships, then deciding those wounds might help win an election.
Anyone who has worked with survivors of childhood sexual abuse understands the painful realities of denial, betrayal, shame, and estrangement. A child growing into a successful adult does not erase what happened. Nor does a parent’s denial make that suffering disappear.
I find it equally disturbing that an elderly mother, whom Acton herself described as unwell, was brought into this spectacle. Whatever her own struggles or responsibility for the past, exploiting that fractured relationship was grotesque.
To everyone who defended this, consider the message you sent to survivors. To the young woman whose family refuses to believe her. To the man who has carried the shame of childhood abuse for forty years. To the frightened child who has yet to tell anyone.
What did you teach them about the value of their suffering?
I am a priest. I believe in repentance, forgiveness, and redemption. But none of those things requires me to pretend that deliberate cruelty is anything less than a grave moral failure.
Your political allegiance does not absolve you of moral responsibility. You do not get to set aside your conscience during an election and retrieve it afterward.
If your loyalty requires you to defend the exploitation of a childhood sexual abuse survivor, your loyalty has become an idol. And if your conscience cannot recognize the wrong here, examine what political tribalism has done to it.
This is not about Republicans or Democrats. We have a choice as a people: continue excusing cruelty from our preferred political camp, or summon the courage to condemn it wherever it appears.
Amy Acton deserved better. Every survivor who watched this unfold deserved better.
And God help us if we have reached the point where winning an election matters more than protecting the dignity of a wounded human being.

The Navy Admiral who Pete Hegseth fired, Nancy Lacore, a 35-year Navy veteran, last night defeated her MAGA republican opponent to win a House seat - South Carolina District 1.
Now he has to answer to her in Congress

Question: How does it feel to have voted in the most important election in U.S. history?

Absolutely
Normally, I think you should always take your opponent’s concession call. But in this case, Amy Acton had every right to send that motherfucker straight to voicemail. newsweek.com/vivek-ramaswamy…

🚨 BREAKING: Pete Hegseth could face a House impeachment vote as soon as next week, CNN reports. Some GOP lawmakers and allies are privately blaming him for their midterm losses, saying he pushed Trump into the Iran war.
That vote would come while Republicans still control the House.

This is such garbage! Like w/ client Davey Hearn or Jim Comey, AG James, sandwich thrower & MANY others, Trump admin is openly abusing criminal powers for political purposes. Fed & state courts have ruled that the ballot is legal. No normal admin would be doing this Election Day

I won’t be online much today. I worked some double shifts so I could take today off. I’ll be ferrying seniors in my community to the polls so they can vote.

The day before the midterms, the WSJ reports the U.S. has been quietly bombing an Iranian island in the Strait of Hormuz this evening...all while Trump tells reporters he’s not considering striking Iran.
Missile defenses are moving in.
Watch what they do, not what they say.

NEWS: Former top FBI official Douglas DePodesta has filed a bombshell lawsuit against Kash Patel, the DOJ, and other Trump officials, alleging he was forced out after refusing to go along with politically motivated prosecutions of Chicago protesters perceived as Trump’s political enemies.
The suit alleges prosecutors were ordered to pursue charges even when they believed probable cause was lacking, and that DePodesta was later falsely blamed for a high-profile case collapsing.

Putin is not a humanitarian.
Putin is a terrorist.
Russia deliberately struck a school in the village of Komyshuvakha, Zaporizhzhia region, where humanitarian aid was being handed out to local residents.
In the morning, the Russians dropped aerial bombs on the school. People took shelter, and the occupiers then struck again: nine more aerial bombs, aimed directly at the shelter.
As of now, the death toll has risen to 24. Sincere condolences to the families and loved ones. There are wounded, and they are receiving the necessary assistance. The threat of a repeat strike is hampering search and rescue efforts.
There is no doubt: the Russians knew full well that local residents received aid here every week.
