An affordability strategy that doesn’t prioritize rent regulation is doomed. Housing costs are American households’ biggest monthly expense, and rent is a key driver of core inflation. Now is the time for federal action to regulate rents, by any/all means necessary.

Growing up my family basically lived off loans like these. Some have interest rates in the 400-600 percent interest range. There’s a reason you don’t see them in “good” parts of town. I myself have defaulted on a couple. Many states have outlawed them completely
The Flex Loan, a new type of payday loan pioneered by Advance Financial in Tennessee, allows residents to borrow up to $4,000 at a 279.5% interest rate.
It has burdened low-income borrowers while generating huge profits for lenders.

The liberal mind’s inability to grasp that protesting Dems isn’t intended to abstractly hurt them/help Republicans, but to push them to stop bad and unpopular policies like genocide, will never cease to amaze me.
The tactic isn’t “make Trump win.” It’s “pressure Biden/Harris to adopt a policy that is fundamentally moral AND would make him more electable.”
Harris could’ve won but she chose to prioritize Israeli apartheid.

RENT STRIKE WIN
Yesterday, four months into their rent strike– the first in Raytown, MO history– Bowen Tower Tenant Union signed an agreement with their landlord. The agreement satisfies key demands and allows the union to de-escalate the strike by Feb 1.

Yesterday I received unverified reports ICE is looking to convert a warehouse in South KC into a detention center.
This morning I verified those reports are TRUE.
We will use every lever at our disposal to try and stop this. I will continue to share info as I receive it.
