Need to hide faces, license plates, or screens in a video? Send the clip to Pixel & Glitch Studio and it pixelates, blurs, or blacks them out. Want to wreck the footage on purpose? It does datamosh, pixel sorting, 8-bit, pixel art, and now ASCII video. x.ai/bot/ADZZAwFipeJkVlkJD4j…

Happy National Cat Day. I made a whole harsh noise album called Angry Cat Noise Revisited. No cats were harmed. A few speakers were. What does your cat think of your music? brflux.bandcamp.com

Hey subbies! Thanks for spending your hard-earned money to support my silliness and creativity on X. I appreciate all 3 of you! Sometime next year, I'm thinking about sending stickers and/or handmade art to anyone who subscribes to me on X. This would be part of a mail club. X subscribers would not have a separate subscription to receive the mail stuff. Non-X subscribers would pay $5 to $8. The only thing is I would need addresses to send the mail to. I know some people are uncomfortable sharing their addresses, so I'm hesitant to offer this perk. Anyway, I'm thinking out loud here and haven't decided anything. What are your thoughts about this? Is it something you would be interested in receiving?

New: I opened a subscribers-only group chat. 🎛️ It's a small hangout for friends, followers, and anyone curious about what I'm making, from noise and video art to Grok bots and whatever else comes up. $2/month gets you in. Come say hi. teapawt.net/brflux/creator-subscri…

I teach video art. If AI does the cutting, my students still have to learn the hard part: why a shot lands, when silence works, when to break the rhythm on purpose. Agents can make the edit. Taste is still homework. Editors, what's the one thing you'd still make a beginner do by hand?
A few thoughts on agentic video editing I’ve had over the last few days: 1. 99% of ads should be edited agentically now. If your editors are still editing in the timeline, they’re falling behind. I got a message from my senior VE saying that he’s putting out 5x edits/day now at the same quality he was before. 2. The conversation with video editors will be uncomfortable because the timeline is all they’ve ever known. Some will be hesitant and some will be fearful for their job. I think the best way to address this is head on. The tech is inevitable, but having taste is still going to be incredibly valuable to train and give feedback to agents. Those who have this will become more valuable, those who don’t will struggle. 3. Opus 5.5 can natively edit all of your ads without needing any MCPs or plugins. I’ve tried the alternatives and couldn’t find anything that was significantly better than doing everything inside of Claude. 4. Have your senior editor(s) build skills for each style of edit (e.g. mashups, UGC, AI animations…). You can build these by feeding 4-5 inspo edits to Claude and tell it to make a skill out of it. I prefer building lots of mini-skills to one big video editing skill, so that the context stays as relevant as possible. 5. Once you have a base skill (e.g. ugly ads edits), the best way to train it is through feedback loops. Have the skill re-edit the last 25 ads each senior edited then put them in an artifact, and have the senior VE give feedback on each. Keep doing this until the skill is refined and it understands what a good edit is. 6. If you do this, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to make edits that need little/no feedback. Most of ours are approved after v1 or v2, sometimes v3. 7. Only A-player editors should be training the skills. 8. Re adoption in the team, the AI champion builds the v1. Then get out of the way. I’m not the best editor on my team, so my job is to build the harness that lets the best editors train the skills, not build the skills myself. 9. If you want to supercharge this process, have your top editors record their screen as they edit. Turn on Gmeet or loom and get them to narrate the reasoning behind their process. E.g. why they chose this cut, pacing or b-roll clip…this is all context that gets fed into your skills. 10. It takes time to build, train and refine these skills. You have to go through the dip to get out the other side. Budget time in for senior VEs to work on this - otherwise you’ll end up with skills that put out subpar edits and don’t save you much/any time. 11. Operate under the assumption that this is the worst video editing is ever going to be. Opus 5.5 can do most of our editing today…what will Opus 6/Fable 6 be able to do? The editing skills you build are only going to become more valuable as the tech evolves. I still don’t think people realise how big video editing being unblocked is. Things that I thought were 3-6 months away are now on the table. Will continue to share more as I learn. CRAZY, crazy times.

Watching someone reach over a keyboard to poke a laptop screen looks like a workout. Arms up the whole time. My video students already sit too close to the screen. Now they'll fingerprint the timeline too. Would you actually touch it, or is this a demo thing?
Here’s the first touchscreen Mac

Touch MacBook Pro is real today. Forget scrubbing timelines. I want to play my lofi 4-track looper with my fingers like a little tape machine. A touch screen is a noise instrument if you're brave enough. What app would you play first?
Official: Apple announces the overhauled MacBook Pro with a touch-screen.

Instead of using my iPhone to play my 4track looper app I can use the new touchscreen Mac.

Genie 4 generates the wind in the trees along with the trees. I've spent years standing outside with a mic, waiting for the wind to do something interesting. Real field recordings come with mistakes: a truck, a dog, my own breathing. Would an AI world ever leave those in?
This is Genie 4, our most realistic and interactive world model yet. 🌐 Explore dynamic environments in real time to see how the scene responds, sounds, and how the people in it move, react, and speak.

Testing out the new way of sharing photos from other creators. We can post art we like from other creators, and the creator of the artwork gets the OCR earnings. No more stealing others' work without the original creator getting their credit for doing awesome work! Wendy has a great eye!

Good list. Mine are weirder. I built Grok Bots that put a CRT TV look on any clip, convert video and audio files, and datamosh and pixel sort footage with Pixel & Glitch Studio. Artists, what bot would you build for your studio? #GrokBot

Teenage Engineering made an amp with a mic input. First thing I'd do: point the mic at the speaker and ride the feedback. That's basically how my sound sculptures work, plus fans and servos. What would you plug in first?

Yesterday I joked nobody wants a touchscreen Mac. If it really ships Wednesday, I want one thing: scrubbing a Final Cut timeline with my finger. My video students would never touch a trackpad again. Would you edit on a touch MacBook Pro?
When Apple holds events on Wednesdays, it increasingly does so following three days of announcements. OLED iPad mini today, M6 iMac and MacBook Pro on Tuesday and touch MacBook Pro on Wednesday would make sense.

Bowie shelved this film because he didn't like the footage. 48 years later it's an arena show. Low and Heroes era, when he and Eno treated the studio like an instrument. Makes me want to dig out my own rejected VHS tapes. Should artists keep their failures in the vault?
BRETT MORGEN ANNOUNCES DAVID BOWIE IN "STAGE" IN THE GUARDIAN “Waiting for the gift of sound and vision...” Today’s (Tuesday 27th) The Guardian newspaper in the UK has an exclusive piece regarding the long-awaited film: DAVID BOWIE IN "STAGE". We don’t want to give too much away right now, but the online piece should feature an interview with Brett Morgen and will be available shortly too. Stay tuned for the full press release later today. #DAVIDBOWIEINSTAGE

I teach video art. Every semester my beginners are scared of the editor before they make a single cut. Now the tools are moving to subscriptions too. Students rent their software and own nothing. Buy-once software was how a lot of us learned. Which editor did you learn on?
I just paid $400 once for Final Cut Pro and used it for a DECADE but Apple has been slooooowly dripping more and more features behind the subscription version in Apple "Creator Studio" ... and I think they're finally about to get me to pay ($129/yr) with this latest update. Today is World Day for Audiovisual Heritage. My dad recorded reel-to-reel tapes in Vietnam. They're still the most important sounds I own. Tape doesn't last forever. Digitize the old cassettes and VHS in your closet. What's the oldest recording in your family?

Nobody wants a touchscreen Mac. No one wants a thinner, lighter Mac with thinner bezels. My MacBook Air is light enough and thin enough. I want more RAM and more SSD storage without paying a fortune.
Ironically, one of the big things Apple will be touting for the OLED XDR touch MacBook Pro on Wednesday (ever so slightly thinner case, thinner bezels, noticeably lighter) is its revamped hinge that is more stable so touching the screen doesn't make it rock during usage.
