I talk way too much for someone who reads memes more than books. She/her.

Why do I have to come to the hateful Musk app to learn that you’re on a podcast, Dee? We have a family chat, Dee. If the family chat isn’t for self-promotion, what’s even the point, Dee. Pls respond via family chat. Sincerely Your proud sister
Friday is PocketBuds day and that means our first guest of the year, @figgled! This week, Ruby and Dee sat down together about everything Sims: the good, the bad and the weird... 👂 linktr.ee/pocketbuds

You made Duolingo sad 😢 It’s been 4 days since you accidentally clicked on the app for the first time in six years 😢 and now we’re going to torture the owl every day until you learn German

My son just referred to the 2010s as “the olden days” and his 22-hour labour didn’t hurt this much.

Trying to get help for parenting struggles is like going to the ER with anaphylaxis n the doctor’s like, “Well you CHOSE to eat the sandwich. I had a sandwich and I’m fine. Are you sure it’s not just anxiety? I’m not hearing you appreciate the sandwich enough.”

“And weren’t you saying before that you were really looking forward to that sandwich? So many people desperately pray for food every day. I feel like your throat will stop swelling and the hives will settle if you remember how hungry you were.”

This analogy is going off the rails but I’m hiding in the bathroom while my kids bang on the door and scream so hopefully you get the gist.

Me before tweeting: Ok but am I READY to go viral? This is so funny. It’ll explode. Can I handle fame? 36 hours later: 2 likes, one is my mum. Me: It’s fine, I wasn’t ready anyway. (Re-reading) fuck I’m so goddam funny.

Sometimes I worry that I’ll be hit by a bus and there’ll be clickbait articles like NEIGHBOURS ACTRESS DEAD n people will click on it thinking it’s someone important n famous and it’s just fkking ME and everyone will be mad and I’ll be dead AND apologetic.

5 yr old: Muuuuuum! I’m cold in the bath! Me: Ok, what do you want? 5: I want you to die! Me: What? 5: (angry) I meant HELP. I just got ONE WORD wrong. He was so irritated at me for being such a pedant.

Yesterday my husband went to the GP with the list of concerns WRITTEN BY ME. He gave them the same info I’d been giving them for years, and walked out with a referral to a paediatrician for suspected ADHD/ASD. No “paternal reassurance” requested.

I told these doctors and maternal health nurses, and specialists, that my son has a strong family history of autism and ADHD. I think they only looked at the part of the form where I disclosed my own anxiety. This referral shouldn’t have taken four years.

I shouldn’t have to lie on my son’s medical forms to omit the mental disorders on his maternal side (my hx of anxiety and depression) to be taken seriously. I disclose that so he can get the BEST most accurate care, not so I can be dismissed.

Rant 🧵 Since my son was 10 months old, I’ve had concerns about his development. I’ve been trying to flag this for 4 years. All GPs and nurses either dismissed me or wrote referrals asking for “reassurance of maternal anxiety” which weren’t taken seriously by specialists.
