In our unfolding battle with AI, we are obviously fighting our own fears. Not metaphorically, but literally. Our fears are in the texts on which our AIs are trained.

Ukrainian Mi-24 pilot Air Davy showed the warm welcome he received from residents of Kharkiv region as he returned from a combat mission in Donetsk region. "It's really special when Ukrainians greet you like this. It brought tears to my eyes. We see you waving to us, and we wave back, too," he wrote. 📹: airdavy / TikTok

What is this? Suddenly all the news is turning good?
AfD losing support for pivoting from remigration to Russia. Co-leader Weidel facing growing pressure to stop talking about Ukraine

I said it before: @Kasparov63 does not need many words to say a lot.
Putin losing elections everywhere, which is why there aren’t real ones in Russia.

Truth.
I am confident in saying this, there is not a single leader of any nation that actually respects Trump. A few may fear the power of the US, but that isn't respect. Others, like Netanyahu & Putin, play him like a fiddle, that isn't respect. America's allies are disgusted by his antics, that isn't respect. All, see his stupidity, corruption & willful ignorance, perfectly called out by Mark Carney. There is no respect, don't fool yourselves MAGA, the world is shaking its head, or laughing at you & your worthless buffoon of a leader.

She is absolutely right. Calling Hitler a left-wing socialist is not analysis. It is the far right looking into a mirror and demanding that someone change the label on the frame. The leader worship, the scapegoating of minorities, the contempt for democratic restraints, the obsession with internal enemies, the promise of national greatness through intimidation: an uncomfortable amount of the political sales pitch looks familiar. Hence the rebranding. If they cannot bear what the mirror shows, they can rewrite the caption. Unfortunately, Elon, the mirror is working perfectly.

Exact.

This is how it should be. Smarter younger generations with sensible new ideas are pushing out the old ones who only have outdated and entrenched views.
Everyone needs to know what actually happened in Serbia. Instead of students just protest against their government, the students organized themselves into a student list and ran in elections against their government—and they have just won. Dear Serbia, congratulations on your victory; you have just opened a new door in protesting. This is history

This start to the week feels like not all hope is lost! I am only reading good news! Serbia. Brazilia. The UK (Farage down in the polls).

This is Novi Sad, the site of the horrific awning collapse that killed 16 people, sparking the massive student-led protests that led to Vučić's demise two years later. Seeing the entire place bounce like this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime thing.

What a good start to the week.
In one day, two politicians - Bolsonaro in Brazil and Vucic in Serbia - with ties to Trump and his family have lost surprise elections, thanks to high turnout. The rise of the international far-right is not inevitable.

4/ 🇷🇸🇭🇺🇷🇺 First Orbán. Now Vučić. Two of Putin’s most useful European accomplices removed by their own voters in six months. Vučić joins the growing list of discarded Kremlin assets — Yanukovych, Orbán, Assad — who thought Moscow’s backing would keep them in power forever.

1/ 🇷🇸🇷🇺 Vučić just lost Serbia. russia’s most useful Balkan ally called a snap election to cling to power. Students who spent 2 yrs in the streets crushed him. Moscow spent a decade buying influence with cheap gas & political cover. Europe didn't oust him. Serbians did.

Oh, Tina, Russians really shouldn't be delivering public lectures about rule violations. Your country violated the most sacred rule of all in the international system by invading and annexing your neighbor's territory. I won't even mention the kidnapping, terrorism, and killing of innocent civilians. Those are violations of international law too. Please spare us. P.S. Isn't X banned in Russia? Aren't you violating your president's rules by tweeting here?
If this is against the rules, why are violators still allowed to use Starlink?

I’ll take a shot at answering one of these good questions. These poor young people are not dying for "no reason". They’re dying because Vladimir Putin's Russia invaded Ukraine and Ukrainians don’t want to be murdered. I hope this helps.
Good questions

Musk undermined the trust in his own platform.
Elon Musk has done to x what he did to starlink. That’s why pro Ukraine posts get almost no coverage

Last Wednesday, in Luxembourg, for an audience of mostly computer scientists, I gave an invited talk titled "Can LLMs have introspection?". I made some daring statements and presented what I think is a new argument. It was a lot of fun. In the Q&A someone asked: "what LLM behavior would convince you that an LLM actually *does* have genuine human-like introspection?". I answered: "none". Everyone laughed. For computer scientists the Turing test is sacred.

Let me make something absolutely clear. Ukraine did not invade Russia. Russia invaded Ukraine. Ukrainians are not fighting because Europeans want an endless war. We are fighting because Russia continues to attack our cities, occupy our territory, and kill our people. I woke up at 6 AM today because of a Russian drone attack near my home in Kyiv. And now I am reading accusations that those helping us defend ourselves are the ones prolonging this war. Do you understand how profoundly dishonest that argument is? If you genuinely want peace, explain how you intend to stop Russian aggression without stripping Ukrainians of their right to defend themselves. Peace is not the same as surrender. And demanding accountability from Russia is not warmongering. Stop blaming those resisting aggression for the aggression itself.
