These were the students who were killed at MSU:
Alexandria Verner was described a "beautiful soul."
Arielle Anderson was compassionate and wanted to be a pediatric doctor.
Brian Fraser was the light in his family's lives.
We're holding their families in our hearts 🧡
Happy with (most) conversations I got to have with some pretty amazing scientists here at @psnaofficial 🌱🧬😊

Happy #TransDayOfVisibility!
We know that visibility matters in academia. Our name-change policy gives authors who change their names an unobtrusive way to update their papers published in eLife, meaning they can get recognition for their contributions. elifesciences.org/inside-eli…

Don’t get me wrong- the nomination of Judge KBJ is a historic moment. But why are we normalizing a Black woman being verbally & emotionally abused by a committee for the public to see? Why are we applauding composure during abuse? Why must Black women suffer to make history?

The speaker this past Monday was Dr. @AnneOsbourn1. She was the MPS student selected seminar speaker for this semester. MPS students got to interact with her over a zoom lunch. What a brilliant scientist and poet, thank you Dr. Osbourn, it was a pleasure!
At 4 pm, virtually join the MPS program for a seminar by Professor @AnneOsbourn1 from @JohnInnesCentre! The talk is titled "Finding drugs in the garden: Harnessing plant metabolic diversity." buff.ly/3BsaW0J

If we only talk about "getting girls interested in STEM careers" but we don't address the bullying, sexual assault, and misogyny rife in STEM workplaces, we are doing those girls a disservice.

New genomes are being constantly assembled making whole-genome comparative studies as the new gold-standard. Our new tool, plotsr, visualises similarities and rearrangements between multiple genomes allowing better analysis of genomic differences.
