I think everyone seemed to just forget that this happened in the last two generations, every Chinese has fresh memories of:
1. How they just largely self funded their own liberation wars against the Qing, the KMT funded by the Americans and a coup by the USSR
2. How opium was everywhere and sold by so and so merchants overseas and then they solved it
3. Then they recovered most of the guns in the country
4. Then they took over western technology.
And while these happened under the coordination of the Chinese government, it was largely self-directed by the Chinese people. When you talk about totalitarianism, you are not describing anything the Chinese are going through, and if anything the CPC are a balancing force between the world and the Chinese. Foreign tactics like “We don’t hate X, only their government” doesn’t work here because when X is Chinese, the CPC is a kitten collectively reared by the Chinese to keep themselves in check and it has every characteristic of the Chinese.
You are talking to people who, when compared to Americans or Europeans were fighting for their destinies while Germany played hooky twice in their attempt to nationalise Europe while committing crimes on humanity.
If Indonesia cared about long term growth then they wouldn’t have allowed forest burning in the first place
Interesting timing
Oct 24: Indonesia cuts natural gas exports to Singapore
Oct 26: Saudi Arabia announces plans to store crude oil in Singapore from 2027.
> SG diversifying energy supply beyond its neighbours
> Saudi gains a strategic storage and trading hub in Asia
> SG strengthens its position as a regional energy hub
> LNG provides alternatives to Indonesian pipeline gas
> Indonesia risks losing long-term export demand as SG diversifies
Singapore is playing the long game, building energy infrastructure, diversifying suppliers and reducing reliance on any single country

This is not correct. Russia doesn’t want AI to displace the already fragile working class, nor do they want to involve the Chinese in restructuring their infrastructure. I’d bet most of their land has already been repurposed militarily since the USSR and inviting the Chinese in would spill all their military secrets. They may sell off Siberia if the Chinese asks for it, for data centers, but inviting them to Moscow? Hell no.
Ai psychosis at its finest
1. Opensource mostly consists of single contributor projects. Do I need to remind folks of rsync and other popular projects? The xkcd meme about Nebraska?
2. They somehow also banned non English speaking users if there is suspected AI usage?
IDK about you but programmers need a life, and agent driven development is probably the closest we get to that.
Why are these the same folk who encouraging anti-AI sentiment? Somehow believing human surgery can replace natural organs is not the same as believing that AI can replace human thought? (nearly impossible given how much machinery is even involved, just maintaining a healthy bacterial system is impossible with current technology because we don’t even understand how symbiosis work between us and the bacterial film on our bodies, and we don’t even understand the human brain!)
Seems more related to anti intellectualism than any semblance of liberalism.

Side note is that Turkish/Arabic Islam is to toxic that countries that have imported culture from them are doomed to fail, Re: Indonesia and North Malaysia.
The original point of Islam, if you take out most of the Hadiths and the additional content added later by the Arabs, is
1. Don’t engage in senseless violence.
2. Don’t fleece people, don’t gamble, don’t do drugs, don’t do alcohol.
3. Learn from China, get as much knowledge as possible and improve oneself
4. Don’t disturb or disrespect other ways of life.
And you look across most muslim countries and it is really hard to see anywhere where this is practiced except maybe ironically where the muslims are embedded in Chinese communities like China or Singapore. Even Malaysia has a Shisha problem.
Tibo still here when @trq212 got laid off? Hmmm
people are making too much noise over this. Which one do you think can last longer:
A nation that has the backing of both China and the US, who also manages the datacenters for both
Or the other with a dysfunctional stock market, burning forests, a government that is set out to face civil unrest? Cutting off something you sell is called idiocy, because you ain’t getting that market back unless you lower your prices further than before. Everyone is itching to diversify. America tried that with China, remember?
Idk, i have been saying this since Sonnet 4, but everyone is larping on how to use agents effectively .

Reading code is a superpower. In the age of AI, intelligence is here but scaling is uneven. You will die of scale. You need to survive scale. And that means being very efficient and effective in how you scale.

Sometimes you gotta wonder what sort of marketing these folks are doing on these half baked tech platforms
People are paying money for devex they don’t even use. Just use AWS.
It's 9:57 am. Been up all night. Postiz is back up!
Been a very hard night, and I feel like I let everybody down.
All the comments I got were very encouraging; nobody scolded me. Thank you so much for that!
During the day, a major PHP vulnerability was discovered, affecting about half the web.
Deployments on @railway stopped, and I assumed it was because of that, even though you do want deployments to upload the latest WordPress fix.
Everybody pinged Railway on Discord, and there was no answer- crickets... and people started getting extremely worried, especially because of >> PHP.
Then I got an email from Anthropic and Stripe saying my API keys were compromised. Still no answer from Railway, but I didn't take the risk; I rotated them and put Postiz down.
We all, even in Discord, already understood there was a leak, but Railway reported it only one hour later.
So the goal was to rotate all 140 keys (that's wild), because each key is duplicated across different containers (scattered). Some have the same variable with a different value (like different DB pool connections)
I was overwhelmed; it was too much, and I froze. I didn't know what to do.
I am lying on my Airbnb bed, but I know I need to get into sitting mode to be more serious, so I go to the kitchen and sit on a chair.
I asked claude to vibe code a system that:
- Will take all the keys and values from Railway (using their MCP)
- Will have an easy way to update all of them or one by one. Based on containers.
- Give me categories so I can be more organized. and prioritize.
I also started rotating keys from 12 am to 7 am.
All while Railway is still down and deployments are paused.
Once I finished I used Railway MCP to update all the env variables. if AI didn't exists I don't know how I could have done it.
Then, around 8:40am to 9:00am, we started deploying everything back to Railway to minimize downtime as much as possible.
And now everything is up.
I feel bad because DevRels at Railway sweet-talked me into staying after each incident and promised things wouldn't happen again; after two incidents, I should have migrated.
I couldn't find a platform I enjoyed as much as Railway, so I didn't want to switch.
Railway problems will happen again, and I will do everything I can to make sure they don't affect me like that anymore. The main problem was the lack of communication and 17 hours of downtime, which isn't realistic.
In the next few days, we will come up with a solid plan to migrate from Railway to a different service, trust is gone.
Also, Postiz grew from $300k to $303k MRR overnight. If you tried to cancel your subscription and couldn't, please contact [email protected], and they'll issue a full refund (super sorry about that).
This week, will be security week for everybody!

I finally found the source of this strange Chinese-Turkish internet skirmish.
I'm German here. I train myself horse riding in China and know not only Uyghurs but also Kazakh, Kirghis and Turkmen as friends. Those central Asian ethnicity groups all identify themselves as citizens of their sovereign states. I have not met a single Uyghur who does not consider himself or herself Chinese.
It is actually quite interesting for Turkey: Germany has very large Turkish immigration population, and Turkish government has been very long accused by German authority of promoting Turkish nationalism in Germany, e. g. "funding religious groups, spreading anti-democracy disinformation in Germany" and so.
I for long thought it is some false accusation made from German political circle individuals. But seeing how some Turkish community always encourage the minorities living in one countries to "leave" that country: This is very dangerous, and now I believe the accusations made by German authority is likely true.
This is very inappropriate, and it crosses the line by both European and Chinese standards. – at Republic of Korea
