I have had the honor of meeting Big Iron. This is pretty fucking normal for the guy.
meet big iron
this photo was taken after the brewer game in 2015 when the brewers finished 26 games below .500
big iron went into this game planning to drink 1 beer for every game the brewers finished below .500
big iron had 26 beers before the 5th inning
big iron left early to pass out on his truck so his boys could keep partying without worrying about him
that mentality is the epitome of this brewer team: selflessness
the 2026 world series is not only for this city and this team but for fans like big iron
go brewers

What’s terrifying about this clip isn’t their ideals…these sweet gals’ hearts are certainly in the right place. What’s terrifying is they have the civic, political, and economic literacy of a 9 year old. When a charlatan like Abdul comes along with the Jr High class president schtick of “no more homework and the vending machines are all free!”, they fall for it.
I don’t know how you get to that age with ZERO understanding of supply chains, manufacturing, labor costs…but a lot of folks think that medicine and MRIs and hospitals just materialize out of thin air like unicorn farts. They’ve never built anything in their lives, so they have no concept of how things function…things are just…there. They think milk comes from the store. They think rich people don’t pay taxes, even though the top 1% fund 40% of government with their taxes already, and yet 40% of all Americans contribute ZERO federal income tax at all. These people don’t understand that you could tax the wealthy at 100% and it would only fund the government for 120 days. Then you’re screwed.
Too many Americans simply have zero understanding of how anything works, and even though they’re living in the easiest times in human history, they think things are “terrible out there”. These commie scammers roll through and promise them things that sound great, but aren’t possible in reality, and have devastating consequences if tried…but because they don’t know anything, they fall for it. Sadly, so many of our politicians and their advisors are such atrocious communicators, there’s like zero countervailing narrative to push back on the commie gobbledygook, so we are gonna have to learn the hard way. Guys…we just had a sample of socialism: Covid. We all got universal basic income, and it ended up tripling our costs and they’ll never go down. Ever. That one brief little experiment in command and control government will haunt us the rest of our lives. Bleak stuff, man.

Spot. On.
I think the people running sports have forgotten why people fell in love with them in the first place.
There used to be something simple about it. Saturday was college football. You knew the games mattered because losing one could wreck your entire season. Baseball was part of the rhythm of summer. The postseason felt different. Rivalries mattered. Traditions mattered. Going to a game felt like an event instead of another opportunity to squeeze another $20 out of you.
Now everything has to be bigger. More playoff teams. More games. More TV windows. Larger conferences. More subscriptions. More commercials. More premium seating. More money.
And somehow we’ve convinced ourselves that more automatically means better.
I love college football as much as anybody, but I don’t need a 24-team playoff to make me care about it. I cared because Georgia losing on a random Saturday in October mattered. That tension was the product. The regular season was basically a playoff before we ever had one.
That’s what worries me about where all of this is headed. The people making these decisions seem obsessed with maximizing the value of every individual piece without realizing they may be slowly killing the value of the whole thing.
There’s a limit to how much time and money people can give you.
You can’t keep adding games, adding subscriptions, raising ticket prices, changing conferences, moving kickoff times around for TV, and then act surprised when fans eventually say, “You know what, I’m good.”
Sports were supposed to be the thing we escaped TO.
At some point they started feeling like something else we have to keep up with.
Maybe sports haven’t peaked. But I definitely think we’ve reached the point where more isn’t better anymore.
I hate to say it folks but I think sports as a whole may have peaked. Everything about sports just feels so forced and unnecessary, a desperate attempt for a private equity firm to squeeze more juice from the lemon. You have college football who is going to expand to a 24 team playoff, getting rid of the most unique thing about college football; its regular season. But these people aren’t college football people, they are tv executives and investors. They could care less about the sustainability of the sports and the tradition of it, they only care about turning a profit.
The MLB playoff have begun and if you are between the ages of 22 and 65, you probably haven’t seen much of them because they are all on during the day. A MLB playoff game started at 2 PM Eastern on a Tuesday. This is 11 AM Pacific. Why? Because NBC has to be the only network that can air the Wild Card round, so they need triple headers to be able to get all of the games in. Atlanta and Philly are heading into a game 3 and didn’t even know what time they were playing til about midnight last night because of conflicts with other games and network availability. Corporate greed has completely botched the MLB playoffs so far in order to keep all the games on NBC.
It feels as if sports have peaked across the board. We’ve gotten to a point where it’s impossible for fans to care more than they have before, spend more than they have before, or watch more than they have before. Every consumer situation has an infliction point, where the capacity of the consumer is maxed out. The product has to back off in order to not burn out the customer and keep them engaged enough to have them invested long term while they back off and recharge short term.
I believe that is where America is with sports now. It currently demands too much of us on a daily basis and has ruined the reasons that we have fallen in love with it. Maybe we all just need a break…

American patriots and heroes, Patrick Reed and Dustin Johnson.
They embody everything great about the U.S.

This makes zero sense.
Patrick Reed has been a part of Ryder Cup winning teams, is 3 for 3 winning the Presidents Cup, and has won 2 LIV team titles.
Patrick Reed is the ultimate team player.

Nobody on the US side likes Reed which is why he was not selected. One bad apple can kill the team spirit, regardless of their talent.
