A Southend hospital doctor is allowed to still work but banned from seeing women patients alone @gmcuk has placed strict interim conditions on Dr Ali Shokouh-Amiri, the doctor was working as a gynae doctor despite being under investigation in Guernsey where he was an oncologist. Several of the complaints against him were upheld he is still employed by Southend NHS During his initial tribunal, 24 allegations of misconduct across six patients were proven. The doctor admitted removing ovaries of two women, Patient C and Patient D, without their consent, including one surgery where there was no clinical justification for the removal. I wonder what @YvetteCooperMP makes of all this as how is this protecting women ?!? Should there even be a place for this man in the NHS are we that short of doctors ? echo-news.co.uk/news/2667054… #VAWG #MisogynyinHealthcare #NHS @tonycoxreform @lwhb__ @PHSO_theFACTS @iceberg4w @andyburnham @c22cuk @KenZeroHarm @LabourKeriHowe

I'm in my 40s. I'm a lawyer. My wife is a lawyer. We both work full time. We cannot afford the house my parents purchased on a single electrician's income in their 30s. We cannot afford the house my immigrant grandparents purchased on a single MTA bus driver's salary in their 30s. They had SIX CHILDREN. For 30 years, politicians in Washington & their oligarch allies convinced regular people that this was just about avocado toast and fancy coffee. In reality, this is end-stage capitalism. Everyone is stuck in place. It's impossible to buy a home. It's too costly to move. We work too much to have passion projects. We don't have enough savings to start our own businesses. We can't afford to go without healthcare to do it. Thanks for writing this article @troy_closson. Would be very happy to discuss further. nytimes.com/2026/10/25/nyreg…

What most people already understand, even without the economic terminology, is that firms like BlackRock operate less like investors and more like modern feudal landlords. These vultures buy essential infrastructure, water networks, ports, energy grids, data centres, and other public necessities, often using vast amounts of borrowed money and paying prices that ordinary market participants cannot match. Once the acquisition is complete, the debt is pushed onto the acquired company itself. The result is simple: the public start paying. Consumers repay that debt through higher water bills, rising energy prices, increased fees, and declining service quality. The infrastructure becomes a real cash-extraction machine. Profits flow upward to the shareholders and executives, while the financial burden flows downward to ordinary households. When the model inevitably breaks down, the consequences are socialised. Communities are left with crumbling infrastructure, polluted rivers, and failing services. Thames Water in the United Kingdom with a £14 billion debt mountain and repeated sewage scandals is a stark example of what happens when financial engineering takes precedence over public stewardship. The executives who loaded the company with debt have already collected their bonuses. The investors have already taken their returns. And when the system finally reaches breaking point, taxpayers are expected to pick up the bill. 🔴Privatise the gains. 🔴Socialise the losses. That is the business model........
Not a single new water reservoir has been built since Water Privatisation in 1989, despite UK population growing from 57 million to 69.5 million. Failed state. Westminster betrays its citizens to enrich unaccountable offshore private equity.

I want to pay tribute to the bravery of my constituents Lynsey and Leon, the loving parents of their baby daughter Esta, who died at Leeds General Infirmary from meningitis in November 2023. A jury has ruled that neglect in the hospital contributed to Esta’s death. Lynsey and Leon High have said: “If we can prevent what happened to Esta happening to other families, then her death won't have been totally in vain”. It is vital that all the coroner’s report’s findings and recommendations are acted upon. news.sky.com/story/neglect-i…

c22cuk OPINION: So terribly tragic but so lovely, such courage and togetherness from both. Hope the lady involved remains strong and you also, it never seems right when a 'child' goes before a parent. May your son RIP always. Our hold on life is so tenuous.
Ten years ago today, my son stricken with cancer married his sweetheart from his hospice bed. They reduced his medication so he could say his vows cleary. A brave lad who can never be forgotten. They were man and wife for 8 days until death did they part. So sad.❤️💔🥲

Spoke in Parliament alongside @haynesdeborah and fellow cast members of #TheWargame last night. The Budget must deliver both funds and reforms to enable the UK to defend itself and deter our foes. Every MP needs to understand that we are now out of time.

Yesterday, I was barred from entering the West Bank by Israeli officials, as part of a @ProgIntl delegation. What's happening here in Palestine is unjust. We've just witnessed what Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and many others have called a genocide unfold in Gaza. We came here to show the world, and to show solidarity with the Palestinian people. The Israeli government didn't allow that.
