I want to thank @25YearsAgoLive for his efforts today. I grew up in the shadow of 9/11 so I’ve spent my entire life obsessed with the history of that day. Yet his live posting still managed to reveal an entirely new perspective on 9/11 to me.
It was about 9 PM here in Australia last night when he posted his first “live” tweet mentioning the first plane crash. I turned on notifications so that I would get each post as they came in. One thing that really stood out to me was just how fast things moved. Within 7 minutes of that post you see the entire north of the building just completely engulfed in inferno. You hear people desperately calling first responders trapped in this raging inferno. Only 7 minutes had passed since the first impact. I actually felt my heart racing, thumping in my chest.
I couldn’t leave my phone screen, I found myself refreshing his page every 30 seconds like it was actually happening live.
Then all of a sudden you see the second plane impact. Just 17 minutes after the first plane. For all my prior reading, I never realised the attacks happened that fast. Because of the way people talked about the gap in time when people still naively thought that the first plane impact had been an accident, I had always wrongly assumed that the second plane impact took place like an hour later.
Experiencing the horror of that day minute by minute really just gave me a completely new perspective on the events. You can understand the panic, the terror, the fog of war. You can easily understand how and why people feared multiple waves of attack, dozens of hijacked aircraft, dozens of explosions, biological weapons.
I really felt that I was watching it live. I couldn’t do anything for 90 minutes but refresh his page. I felt so much anxiety and tension, it sounds stupid but I found myself pacing back and forth in my room.
@25YearsAgoLive just delivered a masterpiece of public history. Like an actual, legitimate masterpiece.
A formal rescue effort begins at the rubble of the World Trade Center, which has been designated “Ground Zero.”
Fleets of ambulances line up, but almost all remain empty.
Relatives and friends of victims try to mob the site, but they are turned away.
Union Square Park becomes a site of congregation and sorrow.
Actor Steve Buscemi, a former FDNY firefighter, is personally volunteering at the site.

A former elite IDF commando named Danny Lewin tried to stop the hijackers on the first 9/11 plane.
Lewin was seated behind the first hijacker pilot Mohammad Atta (pictured bottom left).
The terrorist death squad stabbed two flight attendants to try intimidate the passengers into submission.
Lewin stood up and tried to confront them. Given his elite military training there’s a genuine chance he might have been able to single-handedly stop them.
But he didn’t know that he was seated one row ahead of terrorist “muscle” squad member Satam al-Suqami (pictured bottom right). He was stabbed from behind and murdered, the first confirmed victim of 9/11.
Really annoys me that retards call 9/11 a Jewish plot when a former elite IDF commando was the first confirmed victim of the Al Qaeda death squad that day.
Imagine if things had gone differently.
Also, as always with these things, Lewin’s life was infinitely more valuable to the world than the goat fucker jihadi attackers. The thug who stabbed him - Satam al-Suqami - had very little education and was a petty criminal who abused drugs and alcohol before experiencing a rapid jihadist conversion. He accomplished nothing in life, he was just a parasite.
Meanwhile Lewin was a math genius who helped found the cloud computing company Akamai. His shares in the company would be worth almost $1 billion today had he lived. That’s a measure of what he contributed to the world in terms of economic and technological development. Former elite military commando turned math genius founder. Slaughtered by some low level drug dealer who woke up one day and fantasised that he heard Allah’s call to murder Westerners.
Perfect example of civilizational entropy.
The first victim of 9/11 was Danny Lewin. Born in Denver, raised in Jerusalem. Captain in Sayeret Matkal. Mathematician. Co-founder of Akamai - the company that still carries a huge share of the internet.
On the morning of September 11, 2001 he boarded American Airlines Flight 11 from Boston to Los Angeles and sat in seat 9B.
Directly in front of him: Mohamed Atta and Abdulaziz al-Omari.
Directly behind him: Satam al-Suqami.
When the hijackers rose and moved toward the cockpit, Lewin - 31 years old, elite IDF officer - stood up to stop them.
Al-Suqami slit his throat from behind.
Flight attendants Betty Ong and Amy Sweeney radioed that a passenger in 9B had been stabbed and appeared dead. The 9/11 Commission later concluded he was almost certainly the first person murdered that day.
Twenty-five minutes later Flight 11 hit the North Tower.
He left a wife and two young sons.
Israel is the only country outside the United States with a 9/11 memorial that lists every victim by name, built from Ground Zero steel. Danny Lewin’s name is on it.
May his memory be a blessing.

you should have the option to force counties to buy your property at their appraised value if they aren't willing to reduce your proposed taxable value
have to respect the city of houston trying to fix its budget deficit by going after the small guys
started demolition w all required permits (incl. street closure) and parking authority showed up trying to collect $13k for blocking spots (there aren't even meters)

The fire department inspected the entire space, certified that the buildings fire sprinkler, alarm, egress and life safety were all in compliance. They still shut the business down. We had a certificate of occupancy.
Get out of Houston while you can.
As a landlord, my tenants can’t survive here any more. I’ve encouraged them to shut down and move to Miami or Dallas, and work in cities that want their creative energy and talent.
Shame on you @HoustonTX @whitmire_john

One of my tenants received a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy for tonight. A fire department official showed me an email where the “higher ups” instructed them to shut down the business for tonight, regardless of any permits in place.

The city of Houston hates small businesses.
Houston is a corrupt government who selectively applies laws against those who don’t “donate” to the correct officials.
If you are considering moving to Houston or starting a business here, don’t. Go where you are welcomed.
1 homicide per day and 140,000 homeless, but the City of Houston spends its resources fighting my tenant to the death because he operates under a banquet hall occupancy instead of a bar occupancy (no one can explain the material difference)

Must-read from Sam Harris in @australian on why he refuses to engage in most Israel debates: because too often they start from false assumption that Israel is the problem, while ignoring the ideology that glorifies October 7, martyrdom and the destruction of the Jewish state.
