Elianne Andam’s funeral takes place in Croydon today. The 15 year old was fatally stabbed on her way to school in September. Two of her aunts Regina Boafo and Ruby Paintsil spoke to me yesterday about how they’ll be remembering her.

Woke up to see a old friend of mine standing up to this man troubling
15 year olds on the train.
Men sat by and did nothing. Proud of her.

Young women have told us how the fear of male violence makes them feel unsafe and impacts their mental health. More needs to be done to stop rising male violence against girls and young women and the dangerous misogynistic ideologies that feed it.

Congratulations to British Gas who made record profits of £969,000,000 in six months.
That’s almost *ten times* more than last year, while millions are struggling to pay the bills.
We must end this daylight robbery and bring energy into public hands, now.

We have a woman of colour as Home Secretary pushing through a law that would make it impossible for a victim of sex trafficking to access help through the UK's Modern Slavery System, if they entered the country through illegal means.

🧵It feels like an appropriate time to emphasise the link between rape culture and sexual violence. Enabling hatred towards women in the media sends the message that violence against women is acceptable and emboldens those with misogynistic attitudes to commit sexual abuse. (1/4)

In 2017 the police closed my online stalking case after 2 yrs of nothing. In 2019 they ignored my upskirting case.
Yesterday a met police officer –who came to my home after I reported a misogynist man who sent me a death threat – couldn’t have been more entitled or cared less.
