One reason many Evangelicals easily separate the President’s character from his policies is they’ve long been conditioned to separate character from belief.
For too many, how you live matters less than whether you believe the “right” things.
A destructive form of Christianity.

Every time your phone tells you where you are, it is using a mathematical model of the shape of the Earth.
A Black woman from rural Virginia spent decades building that model by hand, and almost nobody knew her name until she was in her eighties.
Gladys West. She grew up in a sharecropping family in Dinwiddie County and understood early that the alternatives were the tobacco fields or the factory. She finished top of her high school class, which came with a scholarship, and took it.
Her work was satellite geodesy: taking the raw data coming down from orbit and using it to compute, correction by correction, the true irregular shape of the Earth. Not a sphere. Not even a neat ellipsoid. A lumpy thing with gravitational highs and lows.
That model is the foundation the Global Positioning System sits on. You cannot locate a point on a surface until you know precisely what the surface is.
She did this for decades, largely unremarked, and retired in 1998.
She was recognised in 2018, when her sorority mentioned her biography at a function and someone realised what was in it.
The Air Force inducted her into its Space and Missile Pioneers Hall of Fame. She earned a PhD in her seventies.

Every year on or right before 9/11, we show this video to our students. It’s not only powerful story-telling, it’s a reminder to a younger generation about how life altering 9/11 was for those of us who lived it. It’s only 10 min #themanintheredbandana

A growing number of retired Israeli generals and other security officials warn that extremist out-of-control settlers engage in terror attacks against Palestinians that are simply indefensible. And, worse, the IDF is often complicit. nytimes.com/2026/08/31/world…
An ICE agent scanned the wrong license plate, chased the wrong man, and ended up shooting Julio Sosa-Celis through his own front door. DHS’s first story: Sosa-Celis attacked agents with a broom and snow shovel. City surveillance video proved that was false — the whole struggle lasted about 12 seconds. DHS admitted its agents gave “untruthful” sworn testimony. Charges against Sosa-Celis were dropped with prejudice.
The agent, Christian Castro, is now charged with 4 counts of assault + falsely reporting a crime. He fled to Texas.
Greg Abbott is refusing to extradite him. Minnesota’s AG just sued Abbott to force it.
A Republican governor is actively shielding a federal agent from facing trial for shooting an innocent man and lying about it under oath.
Texas, you have a job to do in November. And then justice can finally be delivered.

The deadliest Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s history has now taken more than 2,300 lives.
That number cannot become another statistic we scroll past. Each life represents a person loved, a family grieving, and a community carrying tremendous loss.
African lives are not less valuable because their suffering receives less attention. Human dignity has no borders, and compassion should not depend on geography or proximity.
Nonviolence is an active commitment to protect life. The people of the DRC deserve the world’s attention, resources, care, and solidarity. I am holding the families who are grieving and the health workers fighting to save lives in my heart.
May we refuse to look away.

Wow. Proponents of the ICE taser gloves are openly saying that one reason they love the gloves is that they doesn’t leave any marks or proof that they were used, making it harder for people to sue when they’re shocked excessively.
“I highly recommend these gloves to anybody that’s looking for a utility they can use that is conducive to not leading to lawsuits.” motherjones.com/politics/202…

So let me get this straight. Taylor Farms lettuce gets linked to the cyclospora outbreak. The CEO visits the White House and donates to Trump. Then the FDA says the positive finding was a “false positive.”
Nothing suspicious about that at all.

ICE smashed the window of a disabled Iraq War veteran, on his way to work, pepper-sprayed him, dragged him out at gunpoint, and locked him up for three days without charges.
This is fascism.
PAXIS.app confirms that George Retes is a citizen, a disabled U.S. Army veteran who served his country in Iraq.
Federal agents smashed his truck window, sprayed him with chemical agents, detained him for three days, denied him contact with his family, and released him without charges. He missed his daughter’s third birthday while sitting in a cell.
No person on American soil should fear being treated this way, least of all a citizen and veteran at the hands of his own government. A nation that can do this to a U.S. citizen and veteran can do it to anyone.

It seems, from all reporting, that ICE today
- shot someone who was not attempting to run them over but, rather, "flee the scene"
- was not the person they were looking for
- who had a 3yr old in the car
- who they dragged out into the street
- all while not wearing body cams

Earlier this month, Gov. @KellyAyotte vetoed a bill that would have allowed wrongfully convicted people a new chance to prove their innocence. Right now, the state has a restrictive three-year deadline to request a new trial, even if new evidence emerges outside of that window.
Justice shouldn’t have a deadline, and lawmakers still have a chance to override this veto.
Urge them to take action.
