End of an era....13 years @Gloshosptherapy @gloshospitals with a stint @GlosHealthNHS in the middle. Living away from home, I couldn't have asked for a better lot of surrogate brothers & sisters than those I've had here, with a few mothering figures to boot 🥰 Time to go home 🏡

Our students were addressing the patients on my ward by their first names. I talked with them and said "All people older than you should be addressed by their title and surname unless they specifically ask you to call them by their first name...@EdinUniMedicine @NHSLothianMedEd
Of our input. When you're fire fighting, trying your hardest & overwhelmed by workload, it can feel unhelpful. Looking back now, maybe I should've picked up the phone, invited that therapist in (can you do that - joint session with private provider?) & tried that way 7/
worried about judgement - the mismatch between what I'd like to provide, what I could provide, what the pt needed & what I did provide was really uncomfortable and I perceived that as a barrier. Indeed, we received comments back sometimes about the perceived poor standard 6/
And comms....we don't always get our own internal comms right, I'm sure our community partners are even less impressed, so I dread to think what any non NHS agency receives! As a ward physio, when I had to update a private practitioner with my input, I'd be really 5/
look at this relationship as a collaborative one, not a dissociated one. I'm not sure if this persists but have definitely reflected on my own practice and that of others in terms of viewing this differently now 4/
Then the part about - we won't know what made it better/worse. I've heard this said before, within my own MSK rotation some years ago. I hadn't thought about it again until reading this and am struck by the divisive nature of the comment now. I feel that it's sad that we can't 3/
staff & a growing one for community teams most likely. If people have the resource (which is sad that it is financially dependent), then private therapy input could be life changing in the longer term 2/
I read this thread with interest. A few parts that struck me....'no rehab potential' & that actually meaning 'we don't have the capacity/resource to give the input required to maximise your ability to recover as much as possible' Feels like a common problem for acute therapy 1/
🤩 What's not to love about this! What fantastic sports 🥰👏🏻 @GHoppo80 has perfected his 'superper trooperper' chorusing with all the practising he's done with the kids
