We just finished the build of a new developer portal at Zoopla! We worked with @rjs's Shape Up for the first time to deliver it. Here's my write up of how it worked for us: zoopla.blog/posts/2023/shape…

Visual testing can be great for catching bugs but can be tricky to get stable when battling with async scripts, third parties, loading states, animations etc. Here's how we reintroduced trust and stability using @playwrightweb & @percy_io at @Zoopla : zoopla.blog/posts/2023/fix-f…
Often adopting @rjs's Shape Up is product/leadership led but it’s hugely beneficial for engineers - more focus time, more autonomy, better ownership and less context switching.
It was great to talk on @ShapersBuilders from the perspective of an IC: shapersbuilders.transistor.f…

Great to chat to @davidarens this morning on @ShapersBuilders podcast. First time using this setup not for making music
Delighted to be talking at @brumjs in two weeks about Shape Up and how we introduced it at Zoopla meetup.com/brum_js/events/29…

"Day to day, we had significantly less meetings and more focus time."
"One of our engineers noted that he felt more relaxed and less rushed which was a result of focusing on the bigger problem, rather than granular tickets on a board."

After almost 8 years of its existence, the @pnpmjs way of structuring node_modules is now available in @npmjs
It feels like a little victory.
Now the pnpm node_modules (and the hoisted node_modules) are available in @yarnpkg, @npmjs, and @pnpmjs

A new version (v19.6.0) of @nodejs
is out!
- Adds support to leveraging loaders when resolving subsequent loaders
- Includes [email protected] adding a new option for installations similar to pnpm
⬇️ Get it now:
$ nvm install 19.6.0

Big @playwrightweb fan🙋♂️
I’m a big Cypress fan, so I’m shocked to say this: I just switched to @playwrightweb.
Here are 16 reasons I switched:
1. WAY Faster. ~2X faster with 1 core. ~6x faster with multiple cores (uses multiple workers)
2. Tests multiple browsers in parallel.

Comparison:👇
I wrote my first post since joining @zoopla a couple of months ago for the Zoopla Engineering blog 🎉 It’s about scaling @playwrightweb tests using tag annotations

WCAG 3 will use a new color contrast method called APCA (Advanced Perceptual Contrast Algorithm).
It's a big improvement over the current system but there are a lot of changes to get your head around.
