life has been crazy recently.. bought my dream camera and been working🤞

Hey everyone. Long time no see. If you have a moment, please take the time to read this, it would mean the world to me. I wanted to share a post about my life recently... 2 and a half years ago, my father passed away unexpectedly at the age of 63. He had just retired a little over a year before, after working since he was 14 years old. Afterwards, I found myself lost, and it really reframed my entire outlook on life. I wanted to be sure that I was spending my valuable time doing the things I was truly passionate about. As Confucius said, "We have two lives, and the second begins when we realize we only have one." I used to love filmmaking as a kid. I grew up around the local industry, as I had family that worked on studio sets in New Orleans, and I would go to visit whenever my dad could bring me. I stopped caring about film around high school, and I thought that maybe it was all just a phase... but I soon realized that passion for filmmaking never left, it was just buried deep, and I dug it out. I spent a ridiculous amount of money on gear, and I was off, casting some friends in my first short film in February 2024. What followed was highs and lows: failed projects, festival rejections... but also great projects, making new friends, and even award nominations at some festivals. And finally, nearly 2 years after picking up a camera again, tens of thousands spent, hard work, 60+ shorts, 6+ feature scripts written, 7+ projects shot, 100's of films watched and studied...... We have just wrapped production on my debut feature film, Birdhouse. This truly is a dream come true. Now, time to edit and piece it all together. Thanks for taking the time to read this, I miss all my rl peeps 🫶
