NEW - NASA’s Mars rover, Perseverance, finds that Martian dust is smaller and more dangerous than previously thought, with the ultrafine particles able to stick to spacesuit materials, be carried into living areas, and bypass the human blood-brain barrier.

HISTORIC FLORIDA RAINFALL: An unbelievable 20 - 24" of rain fell in just 12 hours across Southern Brevard County today, especially in Grant-Valkaria. Major flooding was reported from Palm Bay to Melbourne with water going into homes, cars stalled and roads closed. Why did this happen? A nearly stationary boundary helped focus the activity, a disturbance provided additional lift, unusually high tropical moisture brought the juice while storms were "training" and raining over the exact same spots. Could El Niño have influenced the broader weather pattern? It's possible, but that also doesn't mean every heavy rainfall event is caused by El Niño.

Prediction Announcement: Texas Gov and Senate This is the big one and I'll get straight to the point: Republicans will hold both the Gov and Senate seats. There will be a margin difference between the two. Abbott will win with more padding but still down from his previous victories. This is in large part due to the interest of the Senate race. On the Senate side, I do see Paxton winning by a small margin. Talarico has been a strong challenger and could win this, but I think the overall lean of the state pushes Paxton past the finish line first. The Senate race will be a close one, Paxton could win by a little more or Talarico could win.

Amash saying El Sayed is the better choice is right on script.

What about government spending? Surely Rogers is better than Sanders, right? Sadly, no. Both will want more spending—albeit in different areas—but it’s Rogers who is more likely to support any given omnibus or continuing resolution that grows government. In any case, votes on spending are generally close—if at all—only in the beginning, performative stages. The final product that becomes law almost always ends up bipartisan, lopsided in the vote tally, and bad for the American people. The circumstances in which someone like Rogers or Sanders will be the deciding vote are exceedingly rare. I think it’s fair to view El-Sayed as someone who mostly will follow in Sanders’s footsteps on policy and therefore will be far less dangerous in practice than Rogers. (Again, El-Sayed as a senator will do many things that are bad. The question addressed at length is not whether he’s good but simply whether he’s better on the whole than Rogers.) The bottom line is that you can’t evaluate a candidate in a vacuum. You need to consider the context: Which office will they hold? How many allies will they have for their worst ideas and what else stands in their way? What will be their impact on the issues that are most in play? Now, get out and vote! 😉

The companies that make prep products needed a boon and now they have it. Everyone is losing their damn minds over NOTHING.
🤔 People are definitely prepping right now - Walmart dot com is out of SPAM - 10,000 people since yesterday have bought a 4-pack of Chef Boyardee on Walmart - Costco is out of Pilot Bread (its like hard tack, this is a staple in Alaska. I've never seen people buy it in the lower 48) - Augason Farms stuff is low stock or out of stock at the major retailers - Biggest inventory dips are dehydrated meat & dairy - MyPatriotSupply's hello bars @ top of site says "Due to unprecedented order volume, please allow 8-14 business days for your order to ship." - ReadyWise's says "Due to high order volume, Orders placed today are estimated to ship late November." Don't know what to make of this other than to say people are worried.

JUST IN: Fridges and freezers at some supermarkets in Belgium, Luxembourg and Sweden were hacked overnight. Hackers changed the temperature settings to as high as 70°C (158°F), causing food to spoil. The damage is expected to run into the millions.

What I learned this weekend about Texas: 1) Latino men appear to have the same mindset as they did in 2024, when Trump won the entire Latino vote by 10 points. 2) Talarico’s campaign manager came out and said Talarico has “at best” a 50% chance of winning. KEY WORDS - AT BEST. Yet people on here are acting like they know what a Dem victory in Texas looks like when they’ve never seen one. If Texas Rs vote, Texas Rs win. It’s really that simple. And no, nobody knows how many Democrats and Republicans have voted because they don’t register by party. The models are extremely sketchy. I DO expect Talarico to approach the last presidential total of votes. Texas Rs would lose with 2022 turnout. But…Texas R counties are on pace to crush that number, and many R counties are already well past it. *Galveston *Rockwall *Culberson *Denton *Ellis *Brazoria *Kaufman *Reeves
NEW: Dem officials are raising alarm bells that Latino men are refusing to turn on President Trump in Texas and have a growing "aversion" to James Talarico. Democrats on the ground are surprised to find that Latino men they interview are "loyal" to President Trump. "Mr. Talarico’s allies acknowledge that for him to win, he will need to maximize turnout in Latino-heavy communities," the New York Times reports. "But Democratic Party officials said in interviews that while knocking on doors in both San Antonio and El Paso, they encountered abiding loyalty to Mr. Trump and an aversion to Mr. Talarico, particularly among Latino men." "In downtown Lubbock this week, a long line of the president’s supporters waiting to get into a Trump rally included numerous Latino men, many of them wearing 'Make America Great Again' caps." Lmao amazing.
