Dems are beyond foolhardy if they nominate anyone even tangentially connected to the Biden admin in 2028. why bedevil the party & candidate with endless questions about WHEN they knew Biden was a walking corpse & WHY they said nothing about it. pray for Ossoff or new blood!
The New York Times did an open-ended 2028 question and they found Harris to be a much weaker front-runner than other surveys nytimes.com/2026/10/24/us/de…

Imagine a team of editors, and then imagine that together they have overseen some half dozen sources going to jail over 15 years, not to mention at least one committing suicide. Now imagine that every time, they double down on it not being their fault.

Jon Stewart's really horrific effect on the general epistemic environment educated people are in remains under-discussed
HBO's @LastWeekTonight has a long track record of citing social science findings without the appropriate context, massaging them to support whatever point @iamjohnoliver is trying to make.

Me: "Do you know how many times you've tweeted about Piker since you wrote that tweet [about not tweeting about him] on August 30th?" @mattyglesias: "Probably more than I intended to." Me: "8 times.... you tweeted about Mike Rogers 6 times. So you're tweeting about the streamer you didn't want to talk about more than the Republican candidate you say you want to defeat." Yglesias: "Yeah, that's fair." Me: "Why?" Yglesias: "What do you want me to say? You got me." From my new Zeteo interview with the top centrist pundit - on the left, Michigan, Gaza, immigration, polls, electability, and more: zeteo.com/p/matt-yglesias-me…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Yglesias's posts since Aug 30 include ~5 mentioning Piker and at least 9 mentioning Rogers/Rodgers, not 8 and 6. Hasan posted about Piker ~35 times in the period. x.com/mehdirhasan/st… x.com/ThomasVLinge/s… zeteo.com/p/matt-yglesia… x.com/mattyglesias/s… x.com/mattyglesias/s… x.com/mattyglesias/s… x.com/mattyglesias/s… x.com/mattyglesias/s… x.com/augustcohen4/s…

How can this not be turned around on Mehdi and Hasan and the cottage industry of leftists who hate Democrats. These guys never talk about Republicans except to say, “why are you replying to my insults towards you in kind instead of talking about Republicans”

On the day I was born, my mother gave me a Bible verse that has guided my life ever since: Isaiah 6:8. “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?’ And I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’” Send me. That's what I told the Navy when my country called me into harm's way to defend our nation and our freedom. Send me. That's the same commitment to service that led me to raise my hand once again, this time to represent Central Florida in Congress. Send me. I am here to serve you.

Oh hey...take one guess at which 'pollster' vouched for these frauds in a news article and gave them legitimacy. You'll never guess who!!! Ha, just kidding...it was fcking @admcrlsn , yet again!
They're calling it the least credible vouch in the history of vouches.

Ryan Elijah @RyanElijah, a former Central Florida TV news anchor, is the Republican nominee for Florida’s 7th Congressional District after defeating incumbent Cory Mills in the August 18, 2026 primary. According to FEC records, Ryan Elijah's campaign paid $5,000 to Florida Finance Strategies for "fundraising consulting" on Aug. 3, 2026. That firm is run by Trey McCarley and Kris Money, the same fundraisers David Jolly @davidjollyfl hired for his 2016 Senate run. Jolly is the Never-Trumper who walked out on the GOP and is now the Democrat nominee for Florida governor, running against @ByronDonalds. There are a lot of MAGA fundraisers in Florida which makes this selection odd. Kind of interesting that in this close of a race, when Elijah needed money people, he went to the Jeb Bush/David Jolly fundraising team. Is that bad judgment, or does it tell you where his loyalties are? These days, it could be both. I just hope every candidate running on the GOP ticket in 2026 is truly running to win. We can’t afford to lose any seats to Democrats this November.

Seven widespread misunderstandings about politics. 1. The Democratic Party’s elected officials, staffers, and donors are on average very progressive compared not only to the median voter but to most of the rank and file people who vote for Democrats. 2. The public’s persistently angry mood is not a demand for large policy changes, almost all changes generate backlash and the biggest electoral overperformers are wrong-party governors like Andy Beshear and Phil Scott who don’t do very much. 3. Third parties are most likely to succeed when the differences between the two big parties are small (1992) or at least wrongly perceived to be small (2000) not when they’re both seen as too extreme. 4. Donald Trump’s behavior is very extreme but the main way that his policy platform differs from Mitt Romney’s 2012 platform is that he’s more moderate on social security, Medicare, gay rights, and abortion. 5. How much progress you make on Issue X is more a function of how much you’re willing to drop or compromise on issues A, B, and C than of how aggressively you emote about X. 6. The qualities that are good for winning primaries and raising money are unrelated to (and in some ways antithetical to) the qualities that are good for winning general elections. 7. Increasing political polarization reflects deliberate choices made by highly engaged elite actors and is not an emergent property of the mass public.

This is now ad fodder in #FL07. Democrat Bale Dalton’s campaign is running a spot saying Elijah, the GOP nominee, “admitted he’ll trade stocks in Congress”
Replying to @CoryMillsFL
It’s not hard. I checked the box out of “full transparency” because I wasn’t positive how my retirement account would be handled (others did also). I do not intend to trade stocks.

Perhaps a way to think about this is: should we livestream an execution to the same internet that made millions of memes about Charlie Kirk being murdered?
I’m not against public executions. Executions in America are often open to media observers, family, and sometimes others. In some states, if you want to attend an execution, you can make it happen. I think that’s fine. What I object to is streaming an execution to millions of people as, unavoidably, a form of vulgar entertainment. An execution is a solemn enactment of moral judgment. It is a serious affair. It is not something that needs a comments section and to be clipped for memes.
