Pulling off a strike requires really deep organizing that takes time, people have to feel like taking on a considerable financial risk/hardship is worth it and a one-day action that isn't tied to getting a raise or improving their healthcare is probably not going to move them

I get the sentiment and that my answer is a real downer but I honestly think the reality is no we can't, it would be an illegal strike that unions wouldn't want to risk encouraging their members to participate in and non-union workers are not organized and wouldn't go out

Interesting that Kenneth Cole’s daughter is putting out more accurate information on the number of state abortion bans than national reproductive rights orgs. 41 states have bans at some point in pregnancy, not 22. (Second photo of PP map annotated by @RHAVote)

Abortion funds in the Southeast were already in a funding crisis. Now the region is facing catastrophic damage and extensive displacement from #HurricaneHelene. The need for abortion doesn’t stop for natural disasters. Split a donation between 15 funds: secure.actblue.com/donate/he…

This is genuinely one of my favorite @cancelme_daddy episodes I've recorded. It was fun playing off of @chgrimaldi and the two of us bringing our experiences as Capitol Hill reporters to our analysis of the Nuzzi/RFK Jr scandal was special! teapawt.net/cancelme_daddy/status/…

just to be clear people CAN take pills after 10 weeks & have successful abortions. it is a valid option but also one that comes with a lot more prep, knowledge, & support that most telehealth providers refuse to engage with
qq: are they trained to accompany abortion seekers past 10 weeks for MABs assuming every person has the time, space, privacy, emotional preparation etc to go through a 24 hour process of miscarrying a formed fetus?

Maybe no single intellectual habit that’s more lazy, more destructive, or more common than the assumption that women’s concerns about misogyny or gender inequality in their own lives are trivial and unsophisticated.

The worst people in the world continue to think that they have a constitutional right to powerful jobs like mayor of New York—or Supreme Court Justice.
Public defender here. Innocent until proven guilty & lover of due process - the question here isn’t whether he’s guilty of a crime & should be prosecuted. The question is whether in this moment he’s capable of governing. Admin is in shambles & he cannot. So, yes he should resign.

The Catholic Church didn’t even solidify its opposition to abortion until the mid 19th century! This is all so much newer than people think.
This is kind of a funny comment because the history of anti-abortion activism is the history (ironically) of the Catholic Church’s extremely particularly theology on these issues more or less totally conquering evangelical Protestantism.

I'm not a word cop but FWIW I like the terminology "later abortion" to describe abortions that happen after ~23wks. Because it's later than the point the mainstream reproductive rights field is willing to fight for you. And if we can't name that, we can't change that.

do not call the police on patients do not call the police on people having abortions do not call the police on pregnant people do not call the police on people miscarrying do not call the police.
A new report out today from @PregnancyJust finds that, in the first year after Dobbs, 210 pregnant people faced criminal charges related to pregnancy, birth, or pregnancy loss. This is the largest single-year number ever, and almost certainly still an undercount.

The segregating of "real issues" like the economy and "social issues" like abortion is among the most harmful tropes in political messaging. Name a more economically impactful decision most people make than if, how, and when to bring a child into the world.
Reproductive freedom is an economic issue. It’s THE economic issue for women.
