I shipped my first ever SAAS! 👇 transcriby.io — video transcription for TikTok, IG Reels, and YouTube. Short-form or long-form. Super simple: 1. paste link 2. get transcript 3. reuse anywhere (esp. good context for LLMs) Would love feedback 📷 transcriby.io #launch

Day 47 of Building in Public 🚢 4 hours of just straight building today! Feels so good to get back in the swing of things. Daily Log ✅ Added a "Progress" page for skincare iOS app to keep track of streaks and display Achievement badges ✅ Added dark mode and light mode support ✅ Clean up little UI quirks in the calendar view ✅ Setup notifications Now I just need an onboarding flow and pricing, then this app is ready to launch!

Wow, you can stack widgets in iOS! I didn’t know this was a thing

Question to the X Marketing Gods! How do you decide pricing for iOS apps? When should you go subscription based and when should you go for a one time sale? Appreciate the help 🔥

Day 46 of Building in Public 🚢 Made a couple more widgets for users to keep track of their todos for their day and be proud of their progress! I think I’m starting to get the hang of designing for iOS. The stats in the screen shots are actually mine!

Claude Code is smartest at the start of a session. Long sessions slowly degrade because of compaction. Trick: After a while, ask Claude to generate a handoff doc and start a new session. Fresh context = better results. Turn into a skill so Claude does it automatically.

Finally got around to trying out @cursor_ai’s agent cli! Here are some thoughts: 1. Vibe-coding on this interface feels way more effortless, but I feel like I have less control since the UI is less optimized for reviewing code. 2. For smaller side projects, I prefer agent mode. I am much more confident that the models will make the right decisions for projects that have relatively simple architectures. Can’t really explain it exactly but typing the terminal and just seeing things get done feels really good 🤓 3. Agent mode has saved me a bunch of time on code review. I can ask my agent to “Check out my coworkers branch and diff changes against master. Provide 3 high priority comments I can ask” 4. Agent mode saves me time in small infra changes. For small changes like “update public env var” or “up number of pod replicas” it’s been nice to have cursor agent do everything from making the code change to raising the PR. Been only using it for 2hrs but I’ll keep posting about what I like abt it!

Day 45 of Building in Public 🚢 Finally got my first widget to work for my iOS app! Took much longer than I'd like to admit but I'm new to iOS and I've only had about a 30 min - 1hr per day to work on this. Experimenting with this new shorter format for my daily updates with screenshots of what I build. What do you guys think?

Craft vs. Slop. Same tools. Same AI. Same 24 hours. AI raised the ceiling. But it also made laziness rlly obvious.

Day 44 of Building in Public 🚢 Time is such a valuable resource. After resolving resolving issues at my 9-5, I only had about an hour of building before I had to sleep. Daily Log ✅ Tried adding widgets for retipal for streak counting. Couldn't figure it out in the short session I had. ✅ Transcriby hit 100 users yayy Been really enjoying using retipal for my own skin care. My skin has really cleared up and it's been really nice seeing progress! __ Thanks for following my journey #BuildInPublic

Day 43 of Building in Public 🚢 Back from my little ski vacation and ready to grind again! Daily Log ✅ Watched a 1 hour run through of the Swift language. I realized I was relying way to much on vibe coding to code my iOS app so I need to take a step back and learn things. ✅ Filmed some content for transcriby to upload to tiktok. Taking a UGC / very personal approach. I'm realizing how readable of a language swift is once you get past it's little quirks. The only clunky thing I feel is with XCode and recompiling my code takes pretty long so it takes longer to iterate. I'm also considering building an API service for transcriby as more than one person has asked me for it now. What do you guys think? __ Thanks for following my journey #BuildInPublic

Day 42 of Building in Public 🚢 Ski day! Had a blast catching up with friends and shredding on some snow. Managed to get some coding done before dinner. It was amazing not having any electronics with me for most of the day. There's no connection up in the mountains anyways. Daily Log ✅ Got pinged for an on-call issue from my 9-5 lol ✅ Ski! Shred some snow. ✅ Improve Retipal UI visuals Sometimes when I'm on a grinding streak, I think that exercise or meeting up with friends is enough for me to feel rested. Longer trips like this remind me that take a whole weekend off sometimes is what you need! Not posting my analytics since not much has changed since yesterday. Happy weekend everyone! __ Thanks for following my journey #BuildInPublic

Day 41 of Building in Public 🚢 Drove up to Lake Tahoe with friends today. I was the driver so it was hard to get a lot of work done. Good to see my FCP metrics are going up after my changes from yesterday! Hopefully this leads to a better UX for my users. Daily Log ✅ 9-5 Grind ✅ Made it to Lake Tahoe. Skiing tomorrow! ✅ Add notifications for retipal to apply retinoid at night. Improved visual bugs. Added ability to upload progress photos __ Thanks for following my journey #BuildInPublic

Whoops, forgot to post this in BIP 😆
Day 40 of Building in Public 🚢 Transcriby made it's 2nd sale 🥳 Not sure when the high of getting sales will go away, but right now each one puts my mood through the roof! Daily Log ✅ 9-5 Grind ✅ Improve FCP for transcriby. Turns out I had vibe coded a big waterfall of async calls causing to have the app to have very bad FCP metrics (3.5 seconds+). ✅ Polished Repital further - users can now have multiple retinoid routines that they can switch between. Cleaned up the UI so it looks less nooby. ✅ 4 post, 54 replies, +3 followers (189 -> 192 🎉). If you had told me that I would start making money off the internet in a month of starting this BIP journey I would have scoffed. It's crazy what a little persistence and focus can do. __ Thanks for following my journey #BuildInPublic
