I’ve done some digging.
The islands’ links with Denmark had been cut during the war. Britain was restricting supplies of sporting equipment, whilst rubber shortages affected the manufacture of the inflatable bladders inside footballs.
Exactly why the Faroes ran short that particular year isn’t confirmed. Japan’s invasion of Singapore points to a drop in rubber supplies and Footballs were not a priority.
But football didn’t completely end.
That January, an eight-team tournament took place on Vágar, involving three local sides and five British military teams.
Sandavágur, Miðvágur and Sørvágur were the local teams, with Sandavágur beating Miðvágur 1–0 in the final.
There’s also other reports of sports like Handball struggling to maintain equipment that year too.

Ovde je najjače što je prohujao preko mesta gde je trebalo da stane kao vetar. Ruku na srce, 95% igra na kontra strani, geometrija ga tu muči, ali baš je legendica. Od mojih 15 U9 klinaca najmanje 12 bi na keca bolje stalo.
Ima nešto zanimljivo oko Carricka o čemu se priča nedovoljno: izmene. Ovo su sve izmene koje je napravio tokom sezone i vidi se nekoliko zabrinjavajućih stvari. Carrick menja kasno i zapanjujuće malo, propustio je 7 izmena na poslednje 4 utakmicu u PL.
Ali, dok je i kod Enza M i kod Moyesa proces deo trenerskog plana, kod MC nije. On bi menj’o al’ se boji kakve igle klete. Rastaje se s dušom dvaput nedeljno uz aut-liniju. A kad uđe strah (kao Moyesu na OT) sve dalje je odlaganje neizbežnog. Samo ovaj put mora i ono iznad.
