Are affordability checks as bad as it can get for the UK gambling industry, or is there potentially worse around the corner? Hopefully not - but don't bet against it... clearstake.com/blog/it-could…
1/ The post-white paper consultations are underway, here's our quick take. 1) It's good to see it confirmed that for 'enhanced assessment' affordability checks in particular, operators must account for "income and expenditure data, including current account turnover data"...
3/ ...other solutions may become available in time, but that is ultimately a matter of faith. And even if they do, Open Banking will remain the only universal solution to this challenge.
Great to see our exciting work with Hollywoodbets profiled in @thegamblingnews. Helping operators maximise revenue whilst minimising harm is what we're all about. gamblingnews.com/news/hollyw…
Outsourcing often makes sense, but "decisions relating to player safety and responsible gambling are leaving the building over the dead body of the Chief Compliance Officer". Is he or she right? clearstake.com/blog/can-you-…
We're in favour of clear, transparent affordability and AML checks that put the customer in control of their own data. Here's why: clearstake.com/blog/consent-…
Affordability and AML checks are costing gambling operators millions every year. Maybe it's time to do something about that? clearstake.com/blog/does-you…
Interesting blog post. Key sentence: "this focus ... will not distract us from continuing to robustly pursue compliance with our existing requirements". In other words: affordability checks based on real financial data remain.

Executive summary: affordability checks remain a requirement, operators will be delighted to have transparency about when to apply them, ClearStake remains the best and most frictionless way to perform them. clearstake.com/blog/what-the…
It's white paper day! We'll share the details and our thoughts over the next few hours, but whatever happens it looks clear that checks built on financial data are here to stay. More as we have it. (I've always wanted to say that) bbc.com/news/uk-65249542

We talk a lot about affordability checks in the UK as if we are an international outlier. But nothing could be further from the truth. The truth is that restrictions on gambling are standard in most jurisdictions. Maybe we should consider ourselves lucky?

Talk of affordability checks disguises the big picture: customer due diligence is going absolutely nowhere. From KYC to source of funds checks, or as a route to better business, it's time to own the challenge rather than running scared...

It's almost an article of faith that no person in their right mind will submit to 'intrusive affordability checks' in order to gamble. But it is really true? All the evidence suggests that no, it probably isn't.... clearstake.com/blog/will-con…
Can affordability checks really deliver a sustainable, safe gambling industry, whilst being 'non-intrusive' at the same time? Rishi Sunak thinks so. We agree. clearstake.com/blog/what-are…
It's Safer Gambling Week. But while public awareness campaigns can work, they are only part of the solution. Operators can and should also play their part #SGWeek22 clearstake.com/blog/why-safe…
Delighted to be featured in today's @RacingPost discussing how effective affordability checks can keep punters safe, whilst allowing operators to take bets from those who can afford it. Result: a profitable yet socially responsible industry.
Reading this judgement it feels optimistic, bordering on naive, to think that the affordability requirement is going away in the short term. It's time for operators to act, both in their own self interest and for the good of the industry as a whole. clearstake.com/blog/what-doe…
