I don't know @Iandennisbbc (personally) but the fact he's been integral to so many extraordinary sporting moments is testament to the power of live radio. Tonight was up there with them.

I’m booked to be on the @BBCBreakfast sofa on Monday for the 50th anniversary of Sir Robin Knox-Johnston’s solo voyage (cos I’m author of A Race Too Far on the 1969 round world race). Posting this in the feeble hope it minimises chances of those fickle TV types dropping me.
Watching Vera on ITV player. She walks into Chester le St while players are warming up.
A few mins later she talks to a suspect in a bar and there's a game going on in the background.
A few more mins she's talking to her sidekick, the game has ended.
Was this the new ECB format?
,...50 over cricket at outgrounds in 2020 would be good but it will be a devalued competition due to the 100. Could councils like @Warwickshire_CC , @rugbybc and @coventrycc do more to help the cricket club come to their patch?
I've no doubt the reasons for this are genuine but it'll still be disappointing to Bears fans in Coventry & Warwickshire. They may already feel alienated by the club being the only one in the country not to use the county name in the T20 blast...
NEWS | Warwickshire to host @EssexCricket at Blackfinch New Road.
🗣 “Blackfinch New Road is always a very popular venue for cricket fans and after plenty of discussion and consideration, we believe that this is our best option."

Tranmere Rovers striker, George Yardley who left us this week.
A great player, pal of my father and generous correspondent to a young football fan, who would always sign his letters, “Yours through sport”. My condolences to his family. Declan

Been watching local football where my son is starting his refereeing career lately and wonder why young refs don’t continue. Loads of players/coaches more worried about the ref, decisions than actually playing/coaching. Believe me some players/coaches need to 👀 in mirror ⚽️😡👎 – at Bromley, London

No, the law was introduced to stop players revealing religious or political messages. It may not seem right for every occasion but at least players and refs know where they stand with one law for all. Refs deserve support not castigation.

ITV proving that pundits (Martin O'Neill excepted) haven't a clue when talking about referee decisions. And VAR is rubbish.

Yep. Shove the ref, call him “bastardo”, don’t get sent off, potentially save the penalty, give the green light to players all over the world to abuse match officials. Refs think “sod this” and quit the game. No refs = no matches. Genius. teapawt.net/xgq77/status/984806318…
Replying to @JacquiOatley
Sometimes you have to have a heart. Madrid have been granted too much in their favour in recent years. Give the penalty, Ok. But then sending buffon off was merciless.
#BBCCommonwealthGames...err it's not "bad news" for Northern Ireland... they get a bronze. Are we being a bit English here?
