Nobody is slaughtering Russians. The Russians butcher Ukrainian civilians they get their hands on and deliberately bomb schools, hospitals, and energy infrastructure. The Ukrainians kill soldiers and strike military hardware and oil infrastructure funding Russia's war machine.

I never want to hear about how Americans are propagandized again. We learn about the founding fathers' slaves in middle school, meanwhile grown ass adults in China think Mao was under democratic constraints somehow.

"In the West, we refuse to acknowledge that Mao is actually respected and admired in China."
Many do acknowledge it, most of us just don't think a mass-murdering dictator is deserving of respect or admiration. It's a shame you think they are if they have the "correct" politics.
For once, the community note is actually useful. Millions of people did indeed die under Mao's reign. It was a tragedy.
But, for some reason, the Western mind seems incapable of grasping the complex impact of Mao. In the West, we refuse to acknowledge that Mao is actually respected and admired in China.
I've listed a few reasons in my original post. Unity and sovereignty are big ones. After a century of being carved up and subjected to imperialism, Mao unified China into a single central state. He removed foreign influence. He stood up to the US.
China’s status as a major power today rests on foundations built by Mao.

The GOP's closing message is men complimenting other men on being hot (not that there's anything wrong with that)
Senate Majority @LeaderJohnThune (R-SD) calls Sen Bernie Moreno (R-OH) "eye candy" in response to the attention Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) has been receiving: "They both got it going on when it comes to that."
I don't believe that Flávio is in the USA yet. And for this supposed rescue mission of Jair, which would entail an invasion of Brazil, Trump's supporters and/or their children should be the first line to volunteer for this.
💯 This is a great point from Yglesias. The #GOP hyped up the threat of Ebola to the general public in the USA, which was a complete lie, in the 2014 midterm campaign.
Of course Xi loves what you're doing - you're actively destroying U.S. hegemony, and with it the role of the U.S. dollar as the global reserve currency. You're paving the way for China to replace the USA as the reigning global power. MAGA is actually making America weak.

People who make statements like this should be subjected to the exact same kind of social ostracism as those who praise Hitler.
Read like half an hours worth of actual history on Mao Zedong (not written by a conservative/yank), and you’ll probably realise he is one of the greatest humans to have ever lived by the end of the night.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Historians including Chinese journalist Yang Jisheng using Communist Party archives estimate 36 million or more deaths from the Great Leap Forward famine under Mao Zedong, with broader scholarly ranges of 30-45 million or higher for that period alone.

And let's not forget that this White House has chosen to actively support the regime of the despot who enables such torture. It's not neutrality - the Oval Office occupant is openly obsequious to Vladimir Putin. I don't don't get how MAGA thinks this is strength on the part of the USA.

Tortured Ukrainian POW back from Russian captivity. He has the word "JEW" carved in his back.
Russia, not Ukraine, is a Nazi state. No wonder both the far right and the far left support it.

It's kind of funny that MAGA sued to achieve the very outcome that MAGA has been freaking out about online (Indians in U.S. colleges)
Asian-Americans in Harvard’s Incoming Class More Than Double, to 43.2 Percent
Newly released data on the Harvard College class of 2030 say the class is 43.2 percent Asian-American, a record high and more than double the level when Students for Fair Admissions first sued Harvard alleging racial discrimination in admissions.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2023 that Harvard was unlawfully using race as a factor in admissions. Since then, the numbers of Hispanic and black students in the incoming Harvard classes have dipped, while the numbers of Asian-Americans have soared.
