Every critic of gay marriage said this was the logical outcome; virtually every mainstream proponent of gay marriage assured us it would never happen.
And here we are.

Unless the Church of England appointed a new Lead Bishop for Reducing the Number of Bishops (and quite possibly several), it would be impossible to take its commitment to reducing bishops seriously

Oh, lordy. It's just relentless, isn't it? I mean, they could at least reserve this nonsense for the happy-clappy modern services rather than defile the traditional and most poetic forms of worship with it!
In other news, our 8 am (C of E, Book of Common Prayer) service here included a sermon featuring both the suggestion that we should all look at the Green Party manifesto because "there are some good things in it", and also, warm endorsement of the idea that all C of E churches should put solar panels on their roofs, as that would be a wonderful way of "showing the world who we are".
At least the morning sunlight was beautiful.

Sexual monogamy has never looked so sane. Secular values are failing all of their own stress tests.

The civilizational damage wrought by abandoning Christianity’s teaching on the proper ordering of sexual desire is difficult to overstate. To be human is to be sexually ordered; to disorder our sexuality is, in turn, to disorder our humanity.
That is why Christians are so often accused of being “obsessed” with sex. We are not obsessed with sex. We are concerned with what sexual disorder does to persons, families, and societies—and with a culture increasingly willing to destroy itself in the name of autonomy.

Calvin on the disease of talkativeness among women:
“Talkativeness is a disease of women, and it is increased by old age. To this is added, that women never think that they are eloquent enough, if they are not given to prattling and to slander — if they do not attack the characters of all. The consequence is, that old women, by their slanderous talkativeness, as by a lighted torch, frequently set on fire many houses.”

It should be priests nominating their young people, and questions should be about their faith and involvement in their local churches and communities. Absolute shocker.

She may actually be the reason I finally leave the CoE.
It’s unbearable.
Ryle warned about the compromises of the church of England over 150 years ago.
He warned about the number of jellyfish preachers in the Anglican puppets. What is a jellyfish preacher???
"A spirit that treats every opinion as equally valid so long as it comes “under the garb and name of religion.” Everything is true and nothing is false; controversy is dreaded as uncharitable. Ryle said this produces a Christianity “without bone, or muscle, or power” and must end in the Church becoming a Babel"

This is just obviously true. The problem is WO advocates genuinely don't care at all. They would rather blow up the entire communion than abandon their position. Many are glad Anglicanism is dying and will defend actively making decisions which kill the church. Boggles the mind.
The ordination of women has seriously damaged Anglicanism and represents more than a change in church policy: it marks a rupture with the Church’s historic understanding of Holy Orders and has contributed to a wider crisis of Anglican identity.
For centuries, Anglicanism understood the ordained priesthood and episcopate as a male office, in continuity with the practice of the early and undivided Church and with the example of Christ choosing male apostles. When provinces began ordaining women, this historic consensus was abandoned, creating profound disagreement among Anglicans over whether the Church has authority to alter an institution received from Christian tradition. The consequences have been ecclesial as well as theological.
In the Church of England, the introduction of women priests led some clergy and laity to leave Anglicanism, while disputes over alternative episcopal oversight, the ordination of women as bishops, and recognition of one another’s ministries continued for decades. Across the worldwide Anglican Communion, different provinces have adopted incompatible practices, weakening the sense of a common sacramental and ecclesial order. The Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) and the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON, now the the Global Anglican Council), have continued this practice.
The issue also exposed a deeper problem: if a practice regarded for centuries as part of the Church’s received tradition can be changed in response to modern cultural assumptions, then questions arise about which other elements of Christian tradition remain authoritative.
The novel idea of women’s ordination is a catalyst for fragmentation and is clear evidence of Anglicanism's movement away from its historic Catholic identity, and it explains why many traditional Anglicans regard the change as a decisive moment in the Church's loss of theological coherence and institutional unity.

I can't get this photo out my mind. Centuries of incremental adaptation and contextual or applied theology has given us sex equality in the Church of England, such that the highest office is now held by a woman. The visual contrast—a Christian woman in authority standing next to a fully-veiled Muslim woman in submission—is stark. What ‘harmony’ can there be with an Islamic tradition which treats a woman’s face as something to be hidden, and women as innately subordinate, being ‘deficient in intellect and religion’?

If we rank the heroes and villains of the slave trade, the Church of England stands (alongside Quakers and Methodists) close to the top of the heroes’ table.
William Wilberforce, who pushed through the legislation to extirpate the foul business, was moved by his Anglican faith. So was John Newton, the former slave trader who repented, composed Amazing Grace and ended his days as a Church of England curate.
Thanks to them, and to hundreds of thousands of ordinary churchgoers who lent support to their campaigns, Britain not only abolished slavery in the parts of the world it controlled, but poured its blood and treasure into a long, gruelling and ultimately successful war against the slave trade everywhere else.
Does that story smack too much of patriotism and of “white saviour complex”? Well, the hundreds of young British men who, acting on their faith, gave their lives to hunting down slave ships after 1807 were white and, in this case, were literally saviours.
So were the Anglican missionaries who penetrated the African interior, often dying of tropical diseases, seeking to persuade local potentates to free their chattels.
So, arguably, were the taxpayers who gladly approved the spending of 1.8 per cent of GDP annually between 1808 and 1867 on global eradication: the most expensive moral foreign policy in human history.
That was meaningful restitution. Britain had been a player in the slave trade in the 17th and 18th centuries. When, like John Newton, it saw that it had been wrong, it sought to make good that wrong by liberating as many remaining slaves as it could, diverting ships to hunt down the Guineamen even at the height of its life-and-death struggle with Napoleon.
If slavery is your issue, you could help complete the Church’s abolitionist mission by taking the campaign to the countries where human bondage is most prevalent today: North Korea, Eritrea, Mauritania, Afghanistan. But that does not carry the kudos of self-reproach.
