Today's National Day of Remembrance & Action on Violence Against Women honours those who have experienced gender-based violence & those whose lives have been lost. On this day in 1989, 14 women at Ecole Polytechnique were killed, fueled by gender-based hatred #EndGBV @WAGE_FEGC

Terrible start for a new council if we kick off with a tax increase. Simply saying “unavoidable” and passing the buck off to residents is not the due diligence we pay a council for. They simply must do better - start with their own travel and expense accounts.

Here we go. The beginning of the end of local governance. Stay strong Mayor @yvonne_hamlin

.@fordnation has passed #Bill23. This bill cuts $73 mil from emergency shelters, $230 mil in dev. charges, largely earmarked for affordable housing, and will convert affordable apartments into luxury condos. This is a promise of increased #homelessness. toronto.ctvnews.ca/ontario-p…

It’s not a great way to promote shopping local this season… @yvonne_hamlin

Come shop in #Downtown #Collingwood we will treat you right. Lol. I see this every day and I have to wonder if Bylaw officers use parking apps data for sniffing out prey. #Hotspotmobile #Predator

A thank you to @TownCollingwood for the fast work on clearing roads as well as sidewalks so kids can walk to school and folks can get around town. Such an important time of year to keep active transportation on the radar.

And that’s why elections matter… Thank you to this new council (except the one who voted against) and @yvonne_hamlin for your determination and leadership.

I'm pleased to report that Council has voted to pause the MZO request until further negotiations are held with the developer and an agreement is in place that provides benefits and protections to our community. I am starting the process this morning. Thanks for your support.

Congratulations to MFES Firefighters Mark Arnold and Matt Russell (both on B Shift) who have just published their first book, Firehall Workouts. It is a book of workouts designed by firefighters for firefighters. A great accomplishment!

This is the only sound statement any member of the outgoing council should be making right now.
Exactly. WHO filed it. Don’t be a coward come forward and own it. This is 🍌
Ian Adams (@Scoop_68) profile pictureIan Adams@Scoop_6816 Nov 2022
Well, this certainly is a 'mic drop'... my curiosity is piqued by who may have filed the complaint (I'm assuming not a member of the now-former council?)

“Opportunist” - so very fitting. Sad to see this start to the term for @yvonne_hamlin to have to deal with. We need a fresh start and to be finally free of this past gang.

1/2 From the Integrity Commissioner’s report: “the convening of a Special meeting...just 4 days before the end of Term of the out-going Council, particularly when the results of the municipal election are known, can be regarded as opportunistic."

The Integrity Commissioner has thrown out a complaint about my opposition to the old Council’s MZO request. The report supports my position and condemns the lame duck Council’s actions. Council will meet tonight to discuss the MZO and restarting negotiations with the developer.
