#Diesel prices still close to high.
Very concerning.
Something is breaking in diesel.
San Diego diesel is averaging $7.2/gallon. California just hit a record $8.42.
This matters far beyond the pump.
Diesel is embedded in trucking, agriculture, construction and distribution. Higher diesel eventually works its way through the cost structure of almost everything
Now add tightening global refining capacity and rising expectations for another Fed hike in October.
That creates an uncomfortable feedback loop:
Energy shock → higher input costs → stickier inflation → tighter Fed → tighter financial conditions.
I’m not calling a diesel shortage yet.
But if diesel availability tightens from here, the market may discover that the next inflation problem isn’t demand.
It’s supply.
