Hamas Leader: We're Running in November's Election - And We're Not Laying Down Arms
Hamas chief Khalil al-Hayya confirmed this weekend that Hamas will contest November's Palestinian Legislative Council elections as part of a coalition, saying the group has been "preparing lists" for months.
Here's the DIRECT collision: the Trump administration's 20-point Gaza PEACE framework states plainly, in Point 13, that Hamas can have "NO ROLE in the GOVERNANCE of Gaza, directly, indirectly, OR IN ANY FORM."
Why this matters for what's coming: Hamas openly running a political arm, while keeping its military one intact is precisely the kind of half-measure that tends to collapse fragile ceasefires.
If the Board of Peace doesn't act on this, or Israel 🇮🇱 decides to act unilaterally instead, this is one of the clearer near-term TRIGGERS for renewed fighting in Gaza.

"We strongly condemn the use of dangerous blocking and other irresponsible maneuvers that threatened a collision with a Philippine vessel."
That's U.S. Ambassador to Manila Lee Lipton, responding to China's coast guard and navy intercepting a Philippine resupply mission on September 24. He added: "We call on the China Coast Guard and PLAN to cease the use of escalatory tactics that threaten the freedom of navigation and a free and open Indo-Pacific."
China's embassy in Manila fired back the same day, accusing Washington of backing "provocative and unlawful actions" and telling the U.S. to stop "fanning the flames."
Manila and Beijing reached a 2024 understanding that largely kept these resupply runs from turning into standoffs. This is being reported as the first publicly confirmed block of one since then.
Washington is a treaty ally of the Philippines. Officials have said the Mutual Defense Treaty covers armed attacks on Philippine forces, public vessels, and Coast Guard assets in the South China Sea—which is why a blocked supply run still draws an ambassador's statement instead of silence.
China told the Philippines to “stop provocations.” A week earlier its coast guard hit a Philippine fisheries ship.
On September 18, near Sabina Shoal, China Coast Guard vessel 21585 struck BRP Datu Magat Salamat during a fuel run for Filipino fishermen. Manila released deck video and smashed starboard railings. Beijing said the smaller ship cut across its bow and offered no independent proof. That is the same playbook as years of ramming, blocking, and water cannon against Philippine boats.
Six days later, China intercepted a resupply to troops on the grounded navy ship at Second Thomas Shoal and stopped the mission. On September 25, Beijing demanded Manila “immediately stop all acts of provocation.”Then the script: Manila staged a collision and played victim. Japan should stop “sowing discord.” A drill near Scarborough Shoal was cover for “infringement.”
In every Chinese account, the other side provoked and China acted lawfully. The same week, Manila counted 35 Chinese navy and coast guard ships around four disputed reefs. Crowd the water. Make contact. Blame the smaller ship.

China's property market has crashed taking away a massive chunk of revenue for local governments. So multiple levels of government are getting together to tax the rich.
The tax campaign involves retroactive enforcement, offshore asset scrutiny, and new rules on trusts. Much of the taxation is arbitrary as the rules are vague and the government is getting desperate for cash.
This sudden enforcement could force people to sell assets dragging down the countries stock market.

Passengers arriving in Amsterdam on an El Al flight from Tel Aviv reported being stopped by Dutch customs and having their luggage searched for products originating in Israeli communities in Judea and Samaria or the Golan Heights.
The checks follow a new Dutch measure that took effect September 22 banning the import, purchase and sale of goods originating wholly or partly from what the Netherlands defines as unlawful Israeli settlements. The ban extends even to souvenirs, gifts and products carried for personal use. Travelers may be required to prove where an item was produced.
Violations are criminally enforceable. Under the Dutch decree, an intentional violation can carry a maximum sentence of six years in prison, while lesser violations can carry up to one year, along with possible fines or confiscation.
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee blasted the policy as “insane,” saying Dutch visitors at his church were checking their souvenirs before flying home and warning: “A Nativity set from Bethlehem could put you in prison!” The Bethlehem example itself would not appear to fall under the measure, since Bethlehem is not an Israeli settlement, but Huckabee was highlighting the breadth of the new restrictions on travelers.
Israel is now retaliating diplomatically. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar announced that Dutch diplomats operating in Ramallah will lose their Israeli-issued diplomatic privileges and credentials within seven days.
Sa’ar: “If the Netherlands wishes to continue representing its interests with the Palestinians, it may do so from Palestinian Authority territory, rather than from the territory of the State of Israel.”
