user choice is bad. I like software where a smart person/group has thought hard about the best options and has made the correct choices for me (some top-of-mind examples: fish shell, Black code formatter).

Nail is going to be in SF soon! You should all force him to hang out with you!

I believe functional programming should be safe, legal, and rare.

most of the people i meet, drawn from their old stories, know them, and speak of them in past tense; their existence is defined more by its absence than its presence. a shape burnt unto a wall that i am unintentionally, unwittingly, and uncontrollably tracing footsteps toward.
every day i think about somebody who has left my life, probably permanently, and i miss them immensely. in all honesty, this happened a while ago; by some measure, more or less a lifetime ago. somehow, i keep finding myself haunting new spaces they've already been.

i love to waste hours half-attentively working on a single thing that would have been solved if i would have been willing to make slightly better decisions days ago

im gonna say it, i dont think first principles are real. first principles were invented by big rationalism to sell more deductions but the world doesnt come with ready made rules

first principles thinking is incredibly powerful, but if you use it frequently you are probably a moron who hasn鈥檛 taken the the time to develop good heuristics and/or intuition.

In 2023 I had finally sat down to make a "Henry Kissinger FunkoPop" after being obsessed with the ideas and he died within a couple days after I started sculpting it, very bad timing
