Please read this. It's literally been 8 years in the writing. The first wave of tech disruption of democracy 2016-2024 is over. What starts now is something much, much worse: the age of information chaos. 1/ theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Important Freedom of Information point here. Plainly public interest in finding what happened to £1B borrowed from councils over UK outweighed any argument for secrecy. Yet not only Thurrock but @ICOnews ruled no need for FOI took 2 years to appeal by which time Thurrock ruined
Public Inquiries take too long but urgent need for Select Committee to compel then Leader of Thurrock, Chief Finance Officer Sean Clark & CEO to face music & for Liam Kavanagh to be prosecuted for looting £150M+ spent on fast cars, yacht, mansion, other homes & private jet

Here's another one - he was not jailed for chanting at police - BBC story doesn't even mention that he's a career villain stirring up violent disorder - burglar & drug smuggler who was out on licence from a 20 year sentence as pointed out by @myldn

I know from experience that many of you don't want to hear this. But, as always, we should be prepared to recognise and embrace uncomfortable truths. The latest findings about the health effects of woodburning stoves are simply horrendous. theguardian.com/environment/…

Would you prefer a tax cut …or to know an ambulance will arrive if you need one? Would you prefer a tax cut …or for school ceilings to be secure? Sunak is planning 2 more tax cuts Consider whether you think our public services can handle more cuts before he buys you off.

Renting MPs should be illegal. The idea that Betting & Gaming Council puts £8K into the slot named Craig Whittaker MP in return for him attacking regulation of gambling - which leads to 100s of suicides & decimation of families - is scandalous theguardian.com/society/2023…

Suella Braverman has seriously crossed the line. She is the Home f….ing Secretary. This office demands decency, truth, good judgment and competence. Her article today stating clearly that the police are “playing favourites” and left leaning events are policed softly is a disgrace. She knows this is a lie. She goes on to allege that football hooligans are policed very differently. She is inciting violence against her own police force. In repeating that the pro-Palestinian marches are “hate marches”, she is inciting racial violence. This is not only untrue, she knows it’s untrue. What they want is ceasefire, peace, and the ability to live with human rights and freedoms; crucial rights which we often take for granted. This is the language and behaviour of Donald Trump, inciting riot as he did on the Capitol. If people are hurt this weekend, the blood is on her hands. I hope and pray there won’t be. She is dangerous, racist, fascist, and inhumane, with low cunning and unfettered ambition. She should be sacked for this and kicked out of the Conservative Party. This is far worse than anything Enoch Powell said in the 70’s. Rwanda might offer her accommodation? They have had £120million of our money from her, for nothing except advancing her political career. Stop the rot. We deserve better. #wedeservebetter @votetrueandfair @thatginamiller @carolvorders

Equinor is expected to get a tax break of $3.75bn to develop the oilfield. Simon Francis, coordinator of the End Fuel Poverty Coalition, said: Hidden in the small print of the deal is that this project can only go ahead thanks to a massive tax break the government is giving to international oil and gas giant Equinor. Households struggling with their energy bills will be shocked that the new energy secretary has chosen to hand a multi-billion pound tax break to this Norwegian firm, rather than help people in the UK suffering in fuel poverty. This sum alone could have provided much needed additional support to help disabled households, those living off the gas grid and the elderly. The government’s major drive to keep the country hooked on fossil fuels will be for little reward. Figures show that more North Sea production will only give us an extra year of domestic gas, which will be charged to struggling households at global market prices. This is a political choice and households will remember this decision at the general election. Ha!!!! Rumbled @RishiSunak

BREAKING - #Rosebank oilfield just given go-ahead - the greatest act of environmental vandalism in my lifetime, causing emissions equal to 28 lowest income countries, busting #climate targets & doing nothing for energy security since vast majority is for export #climatecriminals

To repeat. The 3 largest house builders in the UK are over £500,000,000 richer since Michael Gove binned pollution rules on Tuesday morning. Guess who provides 20% of Tory party funding? Not that any of those things are interconnected you'll understand. housingtoday.co.uk/news/a-fi…

Oh dear. Obviously that wouldn't be a govt minister extolling the virtues of a chalk stream and the "pioneering work to reinstate", it when in fact the work was actually done in 2008 under a Labour govt and paid for using EU money. Shurely shome mishtake.
Inspirational visit to see pioneering work to reinstate parts of iconic chalk stream - the Nare to its original course - great for water quality and nature ; sharing views with @jake_fiennes @TonyJuniper restoring these special places is @Conservatives commitment
